I recommend Krone, strong and reliable. I know McHale are Irish but I've seen Krone balers deal with wet and lumpy swathes very well.

Hi Olly. I’m from South Africa. We switched from Claas to Mchale in 2018 after we attended a few different model demos. The Mchale is great with silage and also straw. It makes a consistent bale from start to finish, and is really reliable. Also when making your choice, look at the possible resale value of the Krone and the Mchale , compare it with more or less the same amount of bales made and year model. Have fun with the demo!

As ever, depends what your local dealership is like. The best kit in the world is of limited use if it's broken. It's just a paper weight really.

All our contractors in my area use McHale.... I had Welger bales over the years but these McHale seem almost unstoppable in set heavy silage and parts are easy got but all depends on your local dealer and the backup service but unless your buying one with massive bale count you shouldn't have a worry especially if buying new. Ireland is a great testing ground for silage machinery so McHale had a home advantage to come up with a strong product. I did use a very old version of Krone years ago but it was really only used for hay....not fair to date it as it was a old version....

Put 40k into a property that will be the best ROI. Hire in equipment and let dealers take care of maintenance etc.

I have McHale v6 750 for 3 years, I roll mainly straw, in the first season there were some failures. Although the service fixed the defects, the density was 10/10 in the straw, the weight of the bale was 300 kg. After repair, the bales weigh 360-380 kg, in haylage my friend rolls ok 1300 kg with knives of course minimum power demand on flat areas about 160-180 horse

If your not baling much straw definitely get a fixed chamber so much easier to operate you just can’t get as much straw in a bale

Mcale will be better because if anything does go wrong the dealer is only up the road with the cases krone will be ok but parts will have to come from Germany at some point , I would say mcale
