I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through KZbin videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. There was a great little clip of one of the TV news reporters camped out in Downing Street recently going across the road to knock on the door to tell them Larry wanted to come in! The British People LOVE Larry! He is often photoshopped standing at mini lecturn to make an announcement about whatever shitshow is going down that day.

Larry's birthday is in January, he is now 17 years old (the human equivalent of 85 years ). He has been at Number 10 Downing Street since 2011 and that awful new PM wants to bring in a new cat....though he doesn't have one of his own,he has a hamster 😂 This move will depress OUR Larry and we will revolt. Number Ten is Larry's home, the PMs simply come and go.like lodgers. No, Larry must stay put and if Starmer doesn't like it the hard cheese, let another PM move in (Larry is used to the comings and goings so it won't bother him one jot !). Kind regards from 🇬🇧

I’ve lived in the U.K. 21 years (I’m Irish) and I’ve only recently heard about this - I quite like the idea of Larry the Cat, as I’m a cat-lover myself as I’ve always grown up with cats in my native Ireland (my Mum had 17 cats on an acre of land)

I have actually met Palmerston while I was walking round by the Foreign Office, and he let me tickle him under the chin briefly before he ran off to chase mice, it is my claim to fame and I have the photo to prove it 😂 I believe Palmerston was retired to the countryside. He and Larry did not get along after he attempted a coup!

Wow, I didn’t know there was a Downing Street cat called Wilberforce. Small world, I’m from Hull and William Wilberforce was a leader in the fight to abolish slavery. He hailed from Hull. (Kingston-upon-Hull) The museums in Hull are a must visit.

It's rumoured it's Downing Street's human incumbents that have to take an Oath of Allegiance to Larry (or whichever cat is currently in control there) before they can take up office. Failure to do so would indicate a poor character and one not to be fully trusted. No good can be expected in the long run from any PM displaying such a grave lack of proper deference to Britain's feline overlords.

Larry was running the country whilst Boris was in the fridge. Larry not only chases rats and mice, but foxes as well, that are often seen at night in London. Larry appears on TV on a regular basis, but is as good a speaker as Truss was. Humphrey does look mean. I think Mark did this as a bit of a joke, as not his usual content, but very enjoyable nevertheless.

Since he's been in office, I've always said, Larry the Cat for PM. The Royal Mail, and before them the General Post Office, have cats on their payrole, in the sorting offices. I remember telling a couple who ran a newsagent shop about that, since they had two cats in the shop, so the spoke to there accountant and had the cats added to their payrole. Like the GPO the cats wages were paid in cat food.

I’m not a lover of cats (I’m a dog person 😉), but don’t actively dislike them, although cats seem to like me for some reason 🤔, however in old buildings such as in Downing Street and nearby official buildings in Whitehall, resident felines as ‘mousers’ are clearly necessary to control rodents, so overall it’s a fine and eccentrically British method of natural control - and provides occasional light relief in national news bulletins when the current chief mouser is spotted by the frequently present TV cameras & reporters 😀.
