Toilet Brushes are not really for brushing away poo. They are for scrubbing the toilet when you clean it in general, put some toilet cleaner/bleach in and give it a good scrub, then flush. If its blocked use a plunger. Cleaning away poo is just not something that happens on anything near a regular basis.

The toilet is flushed first before using the toilet brush. And that is only used if some stuff stains the side of the loo. And usually you put bleach or toilet cleaner down the loo first, as well. Of course, the toilet brush has to be cleaned afterwards..You don't leave it dirty. You don't use the toilet brush after every use either. And at least once a week you use the toilet brush to clean the toilet with bleach or similar just to be hygenic and take away any staining...The toilet brush gets discarded and a new one bought fairly regularly..

No British home is without at least one hot water bottle. Partly because it gets so cold in the winter, and we don't have air conditioning, and it costs a bomb, for some of us to have the heating on 24/7. A nice hot water bottle, left inside the bed (under the covers) about an hour before bedtime, is a lovely welcoming thing to have, in cold months. Especially in the Highlands, where nights can get to -15 to -20 frequently. They're also good for sore stomach pains, for men as well as women, kids too.

You wouldn't be able to shove the tweezers in the holes in a UK plug, 'cause it has a protective flap covering the socket holes inside the plug. Only when the longer, insulated prong is pushed into the socket does it release the protective flap and allow all three pins to enter the socket. Usually the plugs stay in place and we switch off at the socket, but getting new electrical stuff out of the box and leaving it on the floor while we unpack it IS painful - when you step back on it! Our plugs always land points up on the floor !!! The toilet brush thing - after use just flush the toilet again holding the brush under the flow of water. No hose required.

When I was a child (in the Dark Ages, yeah, I'm THAT old) hot water bottles were a Winter essential. At least one per bed, or per person. We didn't have the luxury of heating upstairs. The bedrooms had ceiling lights but there were no electrical outlets, until we had some put in, in the late 1970's and early 1980's.Our house was built in the early 1800's and had exterior walls that were over 3ft thick, so warmth took a while to penetrate. Downstairs was heated by log or coal fires. The comfort of a hot water bottle was immense and it was a custom that we'd get a new one each Christmas; being made of rubber, they soon perished and nothing was worse than having one burst in your bed in the middle of a Winters night! The stoppers had to be fitted precisely or they would leak, they also had washers to provide an added layer of protection. You would fill the bladder to about half full, then expel as much of the remaining air as possible, so it was flexible - failing to do that could result in the air forcing its way out, either by popping the stopper or rupturing a seam. Hot water bottles were even made of the appropriate size to warm the cot for a baby, though they'd mostly be removed once the cot was warmed. The down side of them was waking in the morning to what could've been a block of ice in bed - the water only stayed warm for a short period. If you check through history, you'll find that bed warmers started as copper pans, with long handles, into which some hot coals would be placed to warm the bed for a short time. Leave it too long and you wouldn't have a bed! Then they moved on to ceramic or stone bottles, to fill with water, with a rather insecure wooden plug. From those, metal was used, much like the old thermos flask, minus the outer casing. So the advent of the rubber bladder made warming beds (and relieving cramps) much more attainable.

Filled with often quite smutty jokes or topical references which go over the kids heads while they are enjoying the stuff aimed at them. A classic pantomime has specific things you will see. There will be a bit with a ghost where a couple of characters are scared and the audience will shout 8ts behind you. There will be a sing a long at the end with audience joining in. Sweets will be thrown into the audience, kids love that. The young male character will be women in tights, the old female character will be a man, There will be a villain to his, and there will be an argument with the audience with the words "Oh Yes you are" Oh no I'm not". There will be dancing, singing, slap stick and all fitted around a classic story. Aladdin, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Dick Whittington, Babes In The Wood, etc. They are great fun.

But the public rejected it believing it to be to expensive and to noisy. It wasn't until 1775 when Alexander Cummings a watch maker by trade developed the s bend pipe which helped to prevent odours, this became the U bend after Thomas crapper introduced it in 1880. U bend couldn't jam and so it didn't need the overflow unlike the S bend pipe. You don't have to use a toilet brush every time you use the loo.

The toilet really does depend on the toilet you have, I'll give you an idea, the toilet we have downstairs isn't that deep and has a weak flush, whereas the one upstairs is deeper and has a much stronger flush. It really does depend on the toilet you buy or the one you have in your house, we changed both of ours in the UK, but the upstairs one is way better than the downstairs one, so I don't think it's a country thing and really depends on the toilet you have, and yes, the one downstairs does get clogged up at times whereas the one upstairs rarely ever does. Should also remember that a lot of toilets in the UK and I think in Europe have two buttons on them for flushing, one for a pee and the other for a poo, it's basically designed to save water and if I'm not mistaken, I don't think that's common in the US, and no, you don't use the toilet brush when poo is in the toilet, that would be messy lol, it's for cleaning the toilet.

Well blackcurrants are about the size of a small blueberry and have much more flavour by weight than grapes, oh and you don't only need less of them to make flavoured things but you can grow more weight by area too... they aren't used for wine by themselves often because of the bitterants in them but when added to a wine process you get a much deeper and sweeter red wine flavour. Well that's my experience from one year trying out grapes for wine, usually I use wild plums and a bit of honey, a bit of blackcurrant or mulberry really rounds out the flavours

Hot rice sounds like wheat bags we also use . A fabric pouch filled with grain and often lavender oil, so it smells good that you microwave to heat up . They are good but don't stay as hot as long as a hot water bottle does . That said, they are probably safer.

Why do American urinals have a manual flush button !? Hot water bottles are NOT just for the ladies !! I use one in bed on cold winter's nights to warm the bed up. NEVER boil the water !! NEVER put the bottle in the microwave ! Only fill it 3/4 full with water. RIGHT TO ROAM is in Scotland. He calls his shirt a FLANNEL !! A flannel in the UK is a wash facecloth. Or a pair of flannel trousers that are made from lightweight wool. TOMATOES ARE A FRUIT AS WELL !! SQUASH is a concentrated liquid of orange, lemon or blackcurrant that you add water to. " I'm the weird one" ! Never a truer word spoken from someone who drinks his WADER from a vase, bucket or hospital pee container !!

I've heard lots of times that that water container Connor drinks from is actually the container make patients in hospitals use to urinate into if bed-bound...hence the outward curving 'lip' around the top, to help guide / control the direction of the stream...so to speak...?! Easier than struggling to the ward's toilet facilities (or even a commode...)

A loo brush is used with bleach to clean discoloured porcalin , not for toilet paper and poo , although that's an option ... Toilet brushes can be purchased for £2 to £3 , so not a big deal to replace every month , although most people wouldn't replace for years ..

That phrase is "freedom to roam" or "right to roam". And no, Wellies isn't Australian slang - there and here in New Zealand they are called gumboots. Blackcurrant on its own is quite tart - like cranberry. But it's great mixed with other fruit - blackcurrant and apple pie is great. BTW, another thing that confuses Americans about plugs and switches in the UK (& NZ): down is on and up is off - the opposite of the US. "Azul" is like the word azure, meaning blue. Pantomimes are aimed at both children and adults - fun for kids, with added jokes for the parents.

Squash is also the name for a drink that mixed with water. It's basically a concentrated syrupy type drink that comes in loads of flavours. Ribena is something you cant have in tbe states, it's made out of black currants and is really nice. We have grape drinks other than wine. Although you can get blueberries in the UK they are not as popular. You do get them in grocers and they have gained in popularity over the last 20 years but they aren't native to our country.

Aussie's call wellies... Gum Boots. Squash I assume is equivalent to what we Aussies call cordial, a sugar and (usually) fruit juice syrup concentrate you mix with tap water to liking...one litre makes ten litres of drink (officially) but I tend to mix it weaker. Also...don't know if the UK is the same but here in Australia we also don't call butternut a squash but a butternut pumkin...for us squash are those yellow or green weird shaped zucchini textured things that look like little fruit mince pies...lol.

Yeah in the uk people use squash and cordial pretty interchangeably, cordial tends to be for slightly fancier versions. And we do call butternut butternut squash, I guess because nobody would make butternut flavoured squash it’s fine without any confusion.

Good accent because he’s been living in the UK for years. The US doesn’t have toilet brushes? Eww! I guess that means you use harsh chemicals to remove the stains? Chemicals that wind up in the ocean where beautiful marine life is trying to breathe. We flush it first, then pour disinfectant into the bowl using a duck neck bottle so it clings under the rim and all over the inside, then we scrub it thoroughly, then flush it again including the brush so it’s cleaned too. The brush then goes back into its receptacle where there’s either some disinfectant or where it air dries. It’s not used for cleaning anything else so there’s no need to touch it.

Pantomimes always have jokes that are innuendo based therefore the kids don't get them but the adults laugh, then they have lots of jokes for kids to get them involved. I once went to see an Adult Pantomimes called 'Sinderella' rather than the children's version called 'Cinderella'! The adult version was written by a very Blue Comedian called Jim Davidson and it should also still be available on DVD too! Though I actually saw it live and it was hilarious but obviously a show purely for Adults only, 18 Years of Age Plus!

It does prevent it here unless you are an idiot that constantly and obsessively unplugs their plug from the socket and carelessly leaves it lying on the floor, then it is possible to step on them, though I never have as I use common sense and leave the plug in the sockets thus avoiding the issue completely, especially as you can switch the socket off anyway as they are almost always switched to isolate them! Another sensible edition that us Brits thought of to help avoid electrocuting people!
