I was a real skeptic, but the McKenzie Method works! I have been doing these stretches for about a month now. I have a slipped disc and a bulging disc right above it. These exercises (if you can call them that, they are so easy) have really helped me get my spine settled and the pain gets less every day. Centralization works. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain if it works for you too! I used Dr Ho's youtube video titled "7 exercises for back pain using the McKenzie Method". Good luck!

This is the best ever seminar for Sciatica. He nailed it with everything he said in this video. My herniated disc has recovered by lying on my stomach and lifting my elbows on the bed every night (the McKenzie post). Also, don't sit too much and always on your feet. Moving is the best mechanic for your body.

Almost daily I am on the Internet looking up exercises, fixes, therapies, medicines or types of food to eat or not eat. while that all of those are explained here this is by far the best explanation and roadmap. I felt like he was literally telling you my story. I have had to nerve conductivity test 3 x-rays two MRIs. The final diagnosis was radiculopathy L5 S1. I have suffered for the past 4 yrs with back and hip pain, which in the past 4 months has developed into severe sciatic pain traveling down my right leg. I also have numbness and tingling in both legs and feet. I have been to numerous doctors and had spine MRI'S which show disc herniation, stenosis and nerve compression at L4-L5. As the pain in my right leg is intermittent and improves as the day progresses, I am very encouraged by the presentation Dr. Suprun gave. It was easy to understand and made more sense to me than anything I have heard yet! The trick now is finding a PT that practices the McKenzie Method. Excellent video with easy to understand explanations of how the back functions & how problems arise, escalate or declines. I’ve had cervical & lumbosacral back pain since 2001, due to an injury. I have multiple herniated discs, nerve compression & spinal stenosis. I’ve already had a cervical fusion because I was loosing strength in my upper extremities. I still have pain from the cervical spine, but it’s less than before & my arms & hands regained some strength. Now my lower back is terrible. My hips hurt constantly & the pain down my legs is always there. Unfortunately all I can do is stretching exercises in bed. Walking slowly for 1 block is a taxing effort & im known to fall without warning so I need supervision. I hope this method can help me. There are definitely positions that I put myself into that reduce my pain level.

This is great! It's like a functional medicine approach to back pain. Also it was extremely interesting to know that despite abnormal findings on MRI correlation does not mean causation. Which explains why many people I know have had surgery and still have pain. I will be recommending anyone I know experiencing back pain to find a Mackenzie trained therapist. I'm an RN and have become disillusioned with mainstream medicine in often doesn't accurately find the cause for most conditions, many times it doesn't even look for causes and just treats symptoms. This was a extremely informative lecture, and great presentation, and has made me become extremely mindful of my posture throughout the day, and understand why I'm always feeling the need to stretch my back and neck. Now I have a better idea of which stretches to use to reverse the "C" curved posture that we engage in with so many activities. Thank you very much! Subscribed.

Sometimes, just proper positioning alone for a few minutes, relieves the issue or is already a treatment. then follows other regimens.

The forward movements is the cause of my bulging disc and sciatica which now I can address with confidence with my therapist.

@@shiningdiva_2 I managed to heal mine, after alot of experimentation, you have to create space to allow the disc bulge to retract, so that meant straddling two kitchen work tops, palms on the tops and and lifting my lower torso off the ground (like you were going to a dip), do it as much as possible, as many times a day you can, for as long as you can. (and try and not bend forward during the day) The when you have created some space after a longer worktop lift session go lie on your front for 30 mins to allow the disc to stay there. Then repeat until it goes away. You can also use two chairs to lift you lower torso of ground but be careful, hope this helps. It takes time, once you are starting to get less pain work on your core as could have been the root of why you got injured in the first place. Hope that helps.

Yoav , You are the best Practitioner, Teacher, I've ever understood so well. Tests, therapies, too much cortisone, surgeries, treatments. Thank You, Thank You! I'll be looking for Mekensie Institute help here in Idaho. I had total knee replacement after 3rd nerve ablation. I have nerve sparks near knee replacement and back has caused sciatica, piriformis issues. Carptunnel and tennis elbow has gotten worse because I need walker. Week 5, I was on cane. Until P.T. massage so much pain into my knee. I cried 😢 nerve sparks have not gone away. Everyday feels like 1st day of surgery. Thanks for listening. I'm sorry of your friends passing. Bless you for caring and sharing your knowledge!!! You receive ❤❤❤❤❤ Hearts for caring!! Thank You!

OMG good lessons here, Retiring soon from active duty and I feel most of the pain/issues mentioned. I’m 43 but feeling like 50-60 old. Mine is compressed nerve in my right side which sends a Jolt down to my front thigh. Thank you for the detailed explanations!

wow great informatiion. You have wmpowered me after 36 hours in acute pain if not more. This mornibg I did a set of yoga stretches with my yoga ball. Got up from the mat feeling in pain. After your video I realuzed I can correct my posture frim forwaed to backwards as pervyour video. Also, the way I am sitting now with a pillow tucked behind my back when ai sit feels good. I did scan my body today And I thought about yesterday how bad the pain got after my 20 minute walk. Just like you said in your video the pain moved down my leg from my left lower back! I feel happy and not fearful now because I totally understsnd your video and the concept of mechanical shift to correct the back absorbing the pain and latrer disappearing after the ñbody adjusts itself! I really value this video you have done in service here. God Bless you! I am in Miami And I will visit yiur clinic with my husband hecause he can also benefit a lot from a movement examination as welll as me. I am happy tiday I suffered this pain fir the last 36 hours because I havealreadt message your video to three contacts who suffer from the topic you are sharing in your video. Someof them get shots with no results, others have had a couple of Spine Surgery. Others wear a lumbar pillow everywhere they go. Which to me is the less agressive and most likely to bring comfort and correct posture. Thank you Doctor!

The movement pattern problem, such as long standing, hunched posture is not "something out of place". It is a load problem leading to a new episode of disc inflammation or worse disc protrusion. Just to clarify what is going on when we have an episode of back pain. This said, the Mckenzie method is unbelievably valuable and effective. And, along with Dr. Stuart McGill's hip hinge approach to bending over at the waist, these two methods applied regularly will almost eliminate low back pain. Thanks for an excellent discussion Doc.

Wow wow !!! Absolutely excellent. The most realistic info and advice I've ever had on my back issues and chronic pain which I've had for 12 years. I wish I had a guy like him living near me in Lockerbie Scotland. The Mckenzie technique advisers should come to the UK. I'm going to buy the book and see how I go. Have tried everything else. Thanks for the video. 😊

Fascinating.. i have good days and bad days and couldn't understand if there was actually degeneration of my lower discs why if I'm stand, walk and just dont sit the pain is far less. L4,L5 became worse after lifting even small boxes. Strengthened core and it didn't help at all. I'm so excited this may all be fixable without surgery. Thank you
