"it is my ambition to say in ten sentences what others say in a whole book" is a quote from Nietzsche that sums up what might be the most masterful part of this record and something I personally search for in a great album. Succinctness is beautiful. 28 minutes of amazing composition that feels like it took you on an immense journey in such a short period is a rarity in music and the mark of a thoughtful artist.

If yall are only just finding out about McKinley Dixon from this album, you BETTER go listen to his debut album from last year. Melon has an amazing way of minimizing albums he didnt choose to review such that people won't bother listening to them, do not fall victim to this. That album was every bit as amazing as this one and was one of my favorite albums of 2022

Supposedly, HipHop is dying and hasn't had a hit song this year, this music I can see reviving the genre. The song Sun I Rise is beyond any instrumental I have heard since I dunno Digable Planets maybe? I am not a jazz hiphop expert as you can tell but this song blew my mind. People should be playing music like this on the radio/spotify its like when Jazz evolved over 20 years and became Funk.
