This is a sad moment for the country, not just for the MBA community. Saurabh Kumar Ladhha, a 25-year-old consultant at McKinsey & Company jumped off from his apartment balcony to take his life. He was a Chemical Engineer from IIT Madras and then went on to pursue MBA from IIM Calcutta. This video is to pay due respect to the departed soul and to have a moment of reflection for all MBA aspirants and students about career choices that are more aligned to the life you'd want to live, about work pressures, and the mindset you must live with. Since this is a sensitive and serious topic, all the links to my workshops, courses and my Telegram group that I usually put in my KZbin video description have not been put. Om shanti 🙏

I was his batchmate at IIMC. I do not want to talk anything about his academics. But as a person he had a pure soul. Never ever hesitated from helping others. He was a person who worked for the team and the most hard working person in any group project. Truely a huge loss to the country.

@@neervartalap999I was in a similar situation when I was working in consulting. I thought for many months to leave. But there are also some commitments in life which dont allow the person to leave his toxic job. Finally I left it and joined a bank where I am getting 1/10th of the salary when I was a consultant. But still I am happy with my decision because I am sure now that I will get time for myself. some people might not be as lucky as me and get stuck in the vicious cycle of consulting work. I assume that might be the case with my friend.

My outlook towards life is one needs to find intrinsic motivation for doing things. If you are chasing something that society wants you to, you will never be happy. Also never live in your past glory. Remember what you did yesterday doesnt matter, live in the present.

I've recently reflected on why pursuing an MBA is important to me. After careful consideration, I've identified several key reasons: the potential for personal and professional growth, the desire for a lifestyle change, the value of obtaining a solid academic degree, and the opportunity to network with good peers, hone my skills, and build confidence by following the entire process from scratch (starting from exam prep). Marketing/GenMan are two functions which I have interest in. Hopeful.

One question comes in my mind that what if anyone studies MBA and join risk free niche,as the Keynesian risk is getting in as a huge burden in life without any excuse. If I work as a team member in Pizza galeria inspite of any such consulting or other niche MBA or BTech area that would be more sustainable in life...why should we earn 5Crore while 5Thousand is livable enough. Please generate few videoes on this as India is getting popular by her fowl Economy, creating high profile unsustainable lives. India is not so mature also in case of her Economy hence correlated Education system.

My assumption! Disclaimer: It's just an assumption, so take it with a pinch of salt. He may have committed suicide not only because of work pressure because he could have resigned any day. It may be because of the rat race; these days, there is so much pressure to achieve everything at such a young age. Gen Z is setting benchmarks like becoming a millionaire by age 21. Since he worked at McKinsey, he may have come across other smart people and felt a little insecure about himself or perhaps couldn't deal with it and took that step. Because Gen Z is so much into perfectionism.

You have discussed only what a person or employee should do. Kindly create a video on the topic what's going on in companies? Are the companies following the correct work culture? How many jobs are available in the market in comparison of students who are passing out from the MBA colleges? Why are so many MBA colleges in India if there is no job to accommodate them? This is just like the demand and supply. Companies are taking advantage of so many MBA students available in the market and creating a latent pressure on the employees whom they hire. This is started being a norm of exploitation by the company and no one is talking about these topics. This is a very broad topic which need to be thoroughly researched and discussion otherwise this kind of things will increase in future

Darpan,I decided to go for a 50k MBA as I am professional enough in the field. It would have been a huge burden of students loan without yielding anything probably in the age. As IIT or IIM tag is on the verge of committing suicide. Living with a collapsing burden is not an intelligents work. Its India where poverty trap is looming large, hoax are everywhere. I completed MBA part time which gives me enough exposure to my academic arena.I really dont like to join such niche where life is so suicidal.I fought with IT lives also which is unnecessarily very much obsevant of suicidal phenomena.

There's a reason people aspire to go to IIMs, I agree that the fee is quite high and many students have to take loans but almost everyone gets jobs good enough to easily pay off the loans over a few years. You chose what suited you, but that doesn't make it the right option for others. Someone working at McKinsey had no reason to worry about finances or edu loan. He must have had his reasons for taking such an extreme step, and we just cannot put ourselves in his shoes to understand what he may have been going through.

i dont think its work pressure, he's an IIT and IIM graduate the amount of hard work it takes to get into these institutions he's already been through all of it. I am guessing he realised that he did all the hard work for this life, mundane monotonous. Society paints a picture that you clear IIT or IIM then you're all set. He must have influenced by those dreams and after he achieved all of it he realised he just didnt like it
