That’s NOT erosion. That’s subsidence, collapse. The dam is being undermined from below by water seeping into it. Erosion is where water, wind, or other carry soil away.

I think you are correct that the outside wall is subsiding and that will lead to more of the pressure being applied to the inside which may not hold it long term. City should bring in an actual reclamation engineer to have a look.

The mayor will have the fire department look at something that's not related to a fire. I do believe the city engineers should be looking at it

I bet that dam and pond is owned by the HOA that manages the subdivision it sit in. It's use is certainly covered by the HOA's bylaws.

Dont put your valuables in your car and then go on national news and tell everyone you put your valuables in your car. Get a safety deposit box ASAP! When you hear that roar in the night, there will be no time and you may not be able to drive out!

That's what what said about the earthen dam that caused the 1889 flood that killed 2000 people and dragged the land down to bedrock.

Things are always deemed safe, until all of a sudden they aren't. It sure would make me nervous to be in that subdivision. All those homeowners trusted the land developers and realtors that said, its fine. It is, until it isn't.
