Whaaat? You totally missed it, probably because of all that nail biting bike sorcery he was able to capture. I haven't seen trail thrashing that rad since Joey Moskowitz lost a wheel mid-flight on his candy apple red BMX while jumping hills at the ore-cuts in Junior High. Shit made the Wichita paper. I had to use my journey t shirt to stop the arterial bleeding from where his upper thigh was penetrated all the way through by one of the forks bending backward upon landing! But that pales in comparison to this video. I felt the instructions were clear and concise, and the editing was studio worthy, as was the costume changes. The parts I found exciting were the points on chain dynamics, gear box to helmet ratio, and steady state theory. What do you want him to do, tell you how to install it??? C'mon!! As far as I'm concerned, my next stop will be swagging my beast out with rad gear....saddle bags , more decals, then the next stop will be BIKE WEEK, WOOT!! Daytona WOOT, WOOT...BEACH ....WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!!

I did a whole season with the BBS02 in Northern Ontario. It can handle rain sleet and snow like nothing. The programming cables helps a lot. I unlocked 9 levels and slow each of them down so my legs don't spin too fast. You get that when the speed is about 10% less than power level.

Hey there! I just stumbled upon a new project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike and it sounds incredible! Not only does it offer a smooth riding experience, but it also has some outstanding features. One feature that caught my attention is the indoor recharge capability, allowing you to charge the bike while using it indoors. That's a game-changer for those rainy or snowy days when you can't go outside. Plus, with its 80mm front suspension and puncture-resistant fat tires, it seems like it can handle any terrain with ease. Can't wait to try it out myself! Keep up the great work, freebeat!

When you add the price of battery and display in there, you're starting to approach the price of a pre-built ebike. Kits seem like a good option if you already have a decent bike frame on hand, though. I wonder if it's practical to DIY a battery pack out of 18650's or another lithium-ion cell to the same specs as the factory battery pack--that'd bring the cost of these kits down dramatically.
@jstar1000

I put one of these kits on a 2003 Gary Fischer with disc brakes, upgraded to larger rotors on the front. I'm 61 and in pretty good shape but man this thing allows me to go to places I really couldn't or wouldn't go on a regular bike plus I still get a decent workout (nothing like I would on a regular one for sure) but again, I can go places and for way longer then I would otherwise. Its pretty freaking cool. Sometimes I just like to be out exploring and not so much wanting a killer workout and where I live it gets so hot and humid that a regular bike would just be awful during the hot months.

I have an old Gary Fischer been in my shed for years from the 90's thinking about converting it to an ebike. Doesn't have disc breaks has old school rim clamp brakes. Not sure it would be worth it or just find a used newer bike that has disc brakes. My state has no limits except for no faster then 28 mph. Only thing they want a manufacture sticker what class it is. I probably could just print up a label from a label maker.

It certainly looks a lot easier to install it than early generation conversion kits with their strap on bags, wires all over the place, warnings not to get the kit wet or rained on. The placement of the mid drive motor & electronics makes this ideal for normal or reverse trikes, recumbent, maybe even some quads or multiple passenger bikes.

Top tip, for mounting the battery use 'rivnuts' as only two bolts to hold the battery isn't enough. I've been running this exact set up for around 7 months with no problems since using extra bolts to hold my battery, which is a 52v version. Also the gear change sensor is a must. It'll save your chain and all other drive components. I've also put on a 203 front rotor which is very wise as my bike does 59kph on the flat, standard 160 rotors struggle, I've also a 160 fully floating rotor on the rear. Whys your battery upside down? If you have it on the right way up water won't go into it.

I built so many kits and even switched out kits from one bike to another four or five times so I started using Velcro to hold batteries on any kind of frame and is easy to install and un install. And I have never had a battery come lose or come off. plus no rattle! I buy battery bricks and armor them myself and install a power switch to conversion kit to keep the battery from popping when plugging it to the kit.

In addition, I use Greenworks 60v batteries (5aH) but you have to be careful as the system will shutdown for over voltage protection (Error code 07) when anything over 60v is detected. I have over 1200 miles on the ebike as of Dec. 2022 and it still runs like new. Drivetrain is 3-speed Nexus IGH. Actually, you can do fine with just a single speed sprocket. Ive had no problem going to 56V I read somewhere that the speed controller is fine with it . Its the AMPs that will blow the controller. I set my max amps to 20 amps with the programmer, i forget but 28amps is actual MAX. so 56x20=1120watts. I have it geared with a 38 tooth Lekki on the front for so many reasons. I 3dprinted a battery holder with aluminum contacts that looks very close to what the EGO charger looks like. You could repurpose an extra charger if you dont have a 3dprinter.

I also changed out the 46 tooth front gear mine came with to a 32 tooth as it would hit almost 40 MPH at top speed which was nuts, now it only hits 30ish.

Mid drive is great as you get the advantage of gears, but i feel like it will increase likelihood of bad shifting while going uphill. I live in wales with very steep hills, so I think a 1000W for a 120kg guy would be a better option. Perhaps a 1000Kw on the back wheel and 300 W on the front wheel. More hill climbing power and 2 wheel drive for offroading in sand and snow.

Thanks for the vid. I'm disappointed that the BB shaft is a square tapered design. Ditching your modern cranks and downgrading makes no sense. Another concern is the cheap chainring. The chain will drop as soon as you hit a bump or even when back pedaling, so right from the start, one needs to replace it with a narrow wide aftermarket ring.

My e-bike rear hub motor is literallly just a 7km bike lmao. To the other side of town and MAYBE back if I’m lucky. I’d need to charge in between to keep it topped up.

Make sure you check dimensions though. I bought one for a 7 speed trike. The sprocket sits in further on a trike, so it only worked for gear 7, anything lower and it would throw the chain

I had a similar 250W motor installed on my old mountainbike and it still works but there were no shifting or braking sensors available and this the drive train receives an unhealthy amount of wear and tear from the 90nm motor. I've since switched to a hub drive ebike which I think will likely be easier to maintain but at only 700 miles in I don't know that yet.

Yeah it is good editing. Unfortunately it was a green screen for the trail. If notice the water and mud he rode through had no splash at all, and the little bit of foliage he rode on didn't move. Plus a shadow under the tire as he is riding. Still going to research the motor though.

Clean install. Cable management has been a problem for me with the BBS02. I have about 2 ft of extra cables. I tried to neatly tuck it under the motor and also neatly attach it to the uptube but both options are not good. What did you do with your extra cable?

Is this reliable and powerful enough I can use it for years on my 54 country round the world Bucket List journey? Does one carrying 100lbs of baggage break chains very often as I heard one with various ebike systems can break chains. For repairs are parts available fairly readily worldwide? What is a average price a bike shop would charge to install this? Thanks for a great video!

Hi Michael , I installed a BBSHD 1000 watts on my mountain bike , go to cyber bikes on you tube , it's a shop in Australia where the tech Fillippe as great video's on install. Install is simple just make sure that the chainring does not touch the motor when you install it. Get some small spacers to obtain a perfect chain line. You'll also need to contend with the motor brackets loosening which can be fixed with clamps to secure the motor to bike frame. Get one it's totally worth it you'll be amazed on performance especially the BBSHD 1000 watt.
