Life changing event for my drumming life 10 years ago. I use open close everyday as it’s a natural motion now. If your looking precision, this is your prescription. Shout out to Gordy from Atlanta Georgia.

Thank you so much for this great video. I'm a percussion instructor and my students greatly benefit from this excellent video. Thanks to this video I have students as young as 8 years old who are now able to utilize the "open-close" technique. 👏👏👏

True focus and precision - this is basically what I’d like my drum ability to be. I’m going to try your excersizes, i also greatly appreciate your style, discussion and explanation of the playing - it feels like anyone can get to this level who wishes to. The gear tips was also greatly appreciated as I’ve heard suggestions of wearing weights when doing the methods.

Hey Gordy, I don't think I wanna do it so fast or you know, great stuff with your wrist technique.

Ending is hilarious !!! By the way, I find it hard upon going faster and faster to make the wrist movement stay in sync : close then open again ( in the 3 and 4 modes ). Is there a trick there or should I just keep on practising hoping it'll gradually improve ? Thanks Gordy for your tips and method.

@HeartAblaze96
@HeartAblaze96 7 жыл бұрын
so how do you get the sound from closing the hand? cause to me closing the hand looks the same as giving it the tap between the open and close. ive been doing double strokes as open tap essentially.

You could easily expand your method and release more materiel on it. What do you know of Biomechanics? Certain types of martial arts use it. You definitely do. “The Biomechanics of Drumming.” I don’t know. I’m just an owl. I only know about the biomechanics of flight
