This is by far one of the best detailed descriptions of the 812ce 12-fret...and, of any acoustic guitar comparison. Everyone else sounds like a salesman (as they are). You sound like a musician.

I have a 612 ce 12 fret, 2016 (x braced). Maple back & sides, the best guitar I have owned in 50 years! What strings do you use?
@MichaelCovarrubias7 ай бұрын
ive been playing .012 elixir strings, which ive liked for years even before having the taylor. last year taylor moved away from the elixir partnership and matched up with d'addario, ive used d'addario before and they’re pretty good but sometimes a little tinny for my ear. of course i was playing them on a different guitar and i often went a little thinner (.011) back then

I just got this same Taylor and I love it. It just inspires me and every note sings. You make it sound even more amazing. It being a smaller guitar I’ve yet to decide the best way to hold it, I’ll have to try your classical-ish hold. Do you find the first fret to be a bit tight and hard to play? Thank you for sharing!

excellent! i really do love it. the first fret is a little tougher than the rest, but i’ve found this to be true generally of guitars. i'm playing my 25 year old takamine during the vacation and the neck is so narrow at the first fret, and so hard to hold down, that i'm looking forward to getting back home to the taylor. for me, the classical position is the most comfortable. i can barely play any other way 😂 enjoy your new 812!

Thanks for this video. It was nice to hear you talk about something you're so passionate about. Plus all the lovely songs, especially the Lindsey Buckingham stuff.

Hey! And maybe did you try the 722ce? Right now have 2 options, 722ce for 2.8k€ or 812ce for 3.3k€. Will gonna try them this weekend, but maybe you have exp abd could tell ne some of your thoughts :)

i've been looking for softwood guitars for the smaller body models, mostly because i find taylors so bright already. i love every taylor i play, and eventually, a x22 or x24 will be in my collection. but if you close your eyes and love the sound, go for that no matter what the numbers and letters are! i tend to put 2.8k and 3.3k in the same price category anyway lol

Nice job! I'm moving much more into the fingerstyle realm as I get older and also trying to shorten up on scale length. Have you seen the GT811 that's out now? It's probably between the 812 and the slightly shorter scale 811 on my next acoustic. No cutaway on the 811 though. Decisions decisions...

have fun with whichever you choose! i’m trying not to move too quickly to my next addition ha!

i believe the nut width is standard.

The 1 in the 812 doesn't stand for "Soft" 8= Series 1= a 2 means same wood top/side/back - a 1 means different wood on the Top and sides/backs 2= body shape :D
@MichaelCovarrubias Жыл бұрын
the top/sides/back are usually different woods. yes, the 1/2 and 5/6 distinction refers to the top i’m interested in where you got your explanation of the numbering system. from the taylor numbering system page: "The second digit designates two things: 1. Whether the guitar is a 6-string or a 12-string 2. Whether the top features a softer tonewood like spruce or cedar, or a hardwood like mahogany or koa." www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/model-numbers

Wow! Night and day. I'm looking at adding a 12-fret with a cutaway so leaning Taylor as well. What's that you're playing @10:45? I want to learn that. Great video, too. Thanks!

thanks! that's an acoustic version of big love by lindsey buckingham. paul davids has done a lot of commentary about it. just don't let his awe scare you. it's pretty manageable if you're comfortable with right-hand technique. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3quiYikoq2Vptksi=6hENv2iGqXsioHO3 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipaxqpZvpb2gZ9ksi=Ipd6rSktjnxoK8B5
