WHERE IS NEPHI FROM?
I am Nephi Acaling. I am native to Bacolod City in the Philippines but I have been moving and living in different countries due to the nature of my work. I’ve lived in countries like Singapore, Japan and the US due to job assignments. I was in the US when I started this channel but I am currently in Indonesia thus the confusion to some where I am truly based.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Former band vocalist of Akita performing at K-Pub in Ayala Cebu, Philippines (2019-2020)
Former band vocalist of Big Three Band performing in Yokohama 7, Yokohama, Japan (2014-2016).
Former member of the Filipino Voice Symphony (2010-2011) where I was taught by professional chorale singers (e.g. former soprano from UP Madrigal Singers). Our singing group actually bagged the Gold Medal in the International A cappella Championships held in Singapore in 2011.
Former university choir and singing trainer at Technological University of the Philippines Visayas.
WHAT IS THE GREATER GOAL?
My mission is to promote music among different regions and try to make people from different countries relate to each other through music and singing. I have always believed that even small gestures in understanding similarities and differences towards others actually lead to greater awareness about countries and their people.
In this modern world full of things that divide humanity, it is but perfect to put efforts in re-uniting and building bridges among all of us.

Nasyid is very cultural in Malaysia but this is the first time I see this one.This nasyid vocalist is the most unique I have ever heard.Thanks for reacting to this as a Malaysian I'm similarly blown away by this.

FNSS Peringkat Kebangsaan 2014 (SM) Khairan - Kedah

Everything is scored in Nasyid Competition. Vocal, harmony, movement, synchronization, music, lyrics, creativity etc. The first song has to be in Masri style. Therefore it will sound a little bit arabic. The lyrics must include arabic words. A lenggok called 'qasidah' with great tarannum also must be included to get more points. That is why Nasyid performance is so in order and clean because every team has to make it right for everything will be scored. As for the second song, it is a contemporary type of song. You can even add some english in it if you want.

Usually nasyeed (arabic word for chants) is performed without any string instruments. Normally they sang it in a cappella.
