I'm much happier for knowing that these are not just "glass case" Masterpieces. Mr McPherson is quite the industrius Genius. Great engineering, respect for process and sound. A dedicated team sharing the same view and outcome. And Tone for days! Wow, congratulations McPherson Guitars. Thanks Premier Guitar, great series.

I'm a guitar player who recently started archery during this whole covid thing. I went to my local shop and instantly felt the work of true craftsmen when I shot Mathew's bows after Hoyt and other bow manufacturers. The Mathew's bow shot so smooth with no vibration and even at my novice archery level, you could just feel how little recoil there was. It's the same feeling when you pick up a well-crafted handmade instrument and hear a sound that just doesn't occur on other guitars. Strings do cool shit whether your a lover or a fighter.

I loved the interview. I was a little bit disappointed that the interviewer did not ask him about the new carbon fiber acoustic guitars.

Now I have a much better understanding behind all the dynamic sound factors that Matt Mcphearson so painstakingly but brilliantly worked out, and combined to make such a beautiful and rich sounding Acoustic Guitar!!! Kudos Matt. I can't wait to play one and hopefully purchase one. Excellent interview, great questions n even better answers! Thank You.

Great interview! Played guitar for 5 years then later in life I bought a used Mathews outback bow. Now on my second Mathews bow. Interesting on the guitars!

I met Matthew Sr. Back in the 80's. I purchased one of his guitars from him in Edina MN. Great instrument. I used to have one of the sunburst models with o pickup next to the neck. Another super nice guitar.

Holy schnikes... As a mechanical engineer and a guitar player, I tip my cap to Matt McPherson. It's great to see someone with such a great combination of applied physics and dedication to quality craftsmanship. I also love how is freely shares his knowledge and reasoning behind the process of building such beautiful sounding instruments. *polite clap*

Same here! Even though I have lived here for 25 years and have played McPhersons at Dave's in La crosse, I have never been to their facilities! :| Phenomenal guitars! His cheapest model make my $3300 Martin sad :(

So amazing to see that even after decades and decades of guitar development it is still possible to come up with a ton of excellent innovations. Very impressive video. Congrats McPerson guitars for making these wonderful instruments. I’d love to buy one, if I had the coins. I hope AI can help you identify a low cost production strategy so that your guitars become affordable to more people. 🙏. Including myself 🤗

I have an old McPherson acoustic with 3 sound holes. Can you tell me anything about it?
@steveassante67976 жыл бұрын
I think the book Matt was referring to was actually the Overholtz book. Overholtz' suggestion of also varnishing the inside of the guitar was a bit contrary to some of the Traditional thought on Classical Guitar Building. Yeah, the Sloane & Overholtz books were two of the "starter books" for a lot of "Would be Guitar Builders"

Didn't ''Bryan Gallup'' make the first McPherson guitar prototypes? I thought I saw this on guitar repairman Frank Ford site.?
@austinpapp134110 жыл бұрын
That's correct. I attended school there, and in fact, there is a video of Galloup giving a tour of his shop during that era, and in the background when they go into the spray booth, there is a McPherson prototype hanging up.

I'm wondering why you don't see any bluegrass players playing McPherson guitars...are the just a little too non-traditional to be accepted on bluegrass stages? It surely isn't because of their sound.
