Useful video. Just had the MOT with strut movement advisory. Will probably get a set of spring clamps and do this myself after watching this. Not paying Kwikfit for the pleasure.

Nice one. Regular sized clamps will do fine for strut removal and replacement. Consider becoming a subscriber if not already one. Thank you:)

Can I remove strut without spring compressor?
@EducationPineapple5 ай бұрын
@frdzytt4081 sorry you must compress the spring or risk serious or life threatening injuries.

You can remove the strut complete with spring from the car, but not the spring from the strut (not safely) and you certainly can't fit the spring to the new strut without them.

I have an i20 facelift mark 1, does your clutch pedal make a 'click' sound when it's pressed on the downward stroke, mine does but gradually quietens add the car warms up?

Shouldn't make any sounds. Try changing the clutch/ brake fluid making sure to follow the proper order when bleeding the fluid/ air out (make sure you keep topping up the reservoir and not let the level be lower than minimum). Also have someone help you depress and hold the foot pedal as you release and tighten the bleed screw. Consult your manual for which DOT and location of reservoir. Good luck.

thanks for the reply, BTW my car is 3 years old and done only 3000 miles, it's like new, also checked two other i20s of the same vintage and sure enough they made the same sound, so I'm a little confused, maybe Hyundai messed up the facelift version, crap mechanism?

Get a torch, move the seat back and grease the hell out of the clutch pedal area where you think it's catching. Easy fix.

Mine makes that noise also. It could be the 'Clutch Down to Start' mechanism on these models.

Thanks you so much I would like to know if there is any chance to increase the ride height ?

I think that depends on if they make a stiffer spring that fits or a longer strut. I personally wouldn't do that because it could throw all sorts of alignment out and can increase tire wear.
