Honestly, I'm also petrified of needles, so when I absolutely have to go get a shot I just bring a stuffed animal to squeeze while it happens. It's a bit embarrassing as a 23-year-old, but like... I make do I guess. I pretty much always wind up crying anyways, but ya know. Obviously I'm not saying Gerard does _exactly_ that, but my point is that we needlephobes have ways of coping when we have to. I definitely don't get yearly flu shots, though, but I keep up with the big ones like TDAP and whatever. I imagine once they work out one for this corona deal I'll have to go get one again, which I am absolutely not looking forward to, but it's worth it to be able to go places and stuff. . tl;dr-- when you're afraid of needles, you learn to deal with them when you have to; it just isn't pleasant.
