I saw a middle aged couple on a Harley pull up directly behind me while I was stopped at a stop light. Upon stopping the driver almost dropped the machine. As I merged onto the freeway the couple shortly overtook in the fast lane . As the bike passed, he was very unsure regarding lane placement. Sure enough this was a new Harley, with the temporary plate on the back. Both riders were wearing shorts and T shirts, certainly a recipe for disaster. I mentioned to my wife that the gentleman hopefully will increase his knowledge by watching your videos, or just become another statistic. Keep it up Kevin, I’ve been riding motorcycles since the 70’s and continue to learn from your videos.

I'm so glad you said that out loud about new riders who "just jump on and go." I've been riding since I was 12 and I'm 43 and I still always check my bike before I get on, check clutch, breaks and such. I think it mentally puts me in the minds place to understand how seriously I should take being on my bike. Everyone should. Edit: I meant that new riders who just jump on and go may not fully respect the bike or others.

Buy a motorcycle for right reasons...NOT to just save gas. Take the MSF course for your own safety and your passenger's if you ride 2-up. Motor vehicle drivers could care less if you took the course or not...you're a target they don't look for on the road, on most part.

I took the stars safety class in Idaho and it has already kept me out of one accident this year. Driver parked on side of the road attempting to do a uturn in front of us riding 2-up on our harley touring bike. I anticipated his intentions and had the bike nearly stopped before he saw me and thankfully didn’t complete his turn and we were able to swerve around him. Had I not taken the class that situation may have ended differently.

@@charlesberlanga4452 1. You want to ride a bike. 2. You dreamed of riding the bike for DECADES. 3. You can actually afford to buy a bike you want to ride. That's just to name a few reasons why I ride.

@@coryturner9140 There you go, ONE of MANY good reason to take the course👍🤙 I took my course back in 1978 as a mandatory requirement to be able to ride on base I was stationed at. Since then, I quit riding for @23 years before started riding again but, I STILL remember what I learned and had MANY instances where those minimal skills I learned AND retained all these years had saved our butts. Like they say...once you learn to ride a bike, you never forget.

This is why I stay off other forms of media. I want facts and truth! Definitely appreciate all I've gained through watching your videos and practicing. I still can't quite get a U-turn within 2 parking spaces, but I'm almost there. Thanks again for all you do!!!

I have some riding experience when I took my MSF. It was the 2 day course and at the end of it I wished I had taken the 3 day instead. The slower pace gives one more time to absorb the lessons and get more on bike time as well. I would say take the 3 day if its available more riding = more gooder!

McRider is always what I see when you pop up since I'm a Scot. You touched on large class sizes and enough time me riders and skill learning. How many is a LARGE class over there? Here in the UK it's usually (through official training schools) a MAX 2 students per instructor.

I appreciate this channel and your advice and support. I’m a returning rider after 30 years, so I’m really a new rider. I’m a supporter of MCRIDER and I also support another channel, Robert Simmons Paying it Forward. Both channels are outstanding and serve to provide information and instruction badly needed by new riders. I’m using the MCRIDER Field Guide for my parking lot practice and training. Thanks, Kevin, for what you do.

Happy Blessed Birthday aunt ❤️ Good morning ☀️ being a new rider a year now.. I still underestimate the speed at stopping at a corner . I’m going faster than I think, not wanting to down shift to soon , and slow traffic behind me. I’ve briefly skidded to a stop a couple times. Can you do a video braking at a stop light on the Highway please?

We're seeing a lot of south of the border/cartel riders here on the I-25 corridor. No licenses, no insurance and most often selling drugs on a stolen motorcycle. Some good advice on not getting your scoot stolen especially when you're riding it would be helpful. Always interesting and informative, thanks!

Hey @Robert Arton. I use a second, inexpensive cell phone as a GPS.. Once I ran off the road into a ditch. The phone flew off the mount. The bike landed on top of me in such a way that I could not reach the phone to call for help. People in cars on the road could not see me . That is why I keep my primary cell in my jacket pocket now.
