I'm so glad they redid this figure. I missed both previous releases and only have a crappy bootleg version. My only memory of this Spider-man is the finale from the animated series and this design always stuck with me.

Buffed body works extremely well with Scarlet, I have Mafex but is too skinny for me

Ben has been a major part of the current comic run for the past few years, so that synergy also probably helps. I'm willing to bet there will be another one in a future Spiderverse wave. I'm looking forward to this one and Hallow's Eve. I would really like at least one to come with an unmasked head with the faceprint.

7:24 I blame Unparalleled Universe for suggesting the cut at the back of the neck. I see what they were trying to do, but their design doesn't allow the ball joint to fully utilize the cut. I think the middle of the dumbbell is too long and gets stuck at the bottom of the cut. Maybe if they moved the bottom ball higher it would allow the middle part to move further.

Yes 100%. They need to move the ball peg up its too far inside the neck so he doesn't get much range. Jada did it perfectly and McFarlane also executes that area pretty well most of the times I think

Honestly the cut in the back of the neck combined with a mafex style bent dumbbell joint could work pretty well, though a lower neck cut would probably remove the need for a cut in the back of the neck altogether

@@phrog.4809 yeah it's cut in the back but it doesn't work well cause they don't execute double ball pegs well. The lower ball needs to be at neck they put that all the way below in the neck which makes movement lacking. Mafex and even McFarlane do it properly. And jada have done it well too. Hoping someday legends can do that too but not much wishful

What's funny is that, if I Remember correctly, Ben wasn't dying his hair at the time he was wearing this suit. He did when he acted as the new spider man, in replacement of Peter. So the normal PP head from the RYV should be totally accurate with this Scarlet Spider.

This is one of those rare instances where hasbro gets it right. My only gripe with it is that hasbro still doesn’t know how to implement a proper dumbbell neck joint. But I can overlook that problem considering how good the rest of the figure is.

Great looking figure! So glad I preordered mine day one. I have to say, I wish they would make the neck it's own separate piece as to aid in the articulation of the head. Bottom neck peg and socket, upper neck socket with dumbell joint into the head. Nuff said.

Hasbro really needs to figure out their neck articulation. I kinda wish theyd take a queue from GI Joe, a ball waste like Snake Eyes would have been a lot better than the crunch. Still looks really good, might be time to upgrade from my Rhino version

I have both, the Mafex looks so much better when posed, and the Hasbro looks more clunky when posed. However, the Legends looks much better in a neutral pose.

Love Mafex. Since Hasbro gets the job done (for me) for Marvel. I just buy DC Mafex due to not having a line of 1/12 figures for DC currently. Great figure!

Mafex vs Marvel Legends Unlike the NWH Green Goblin with MVL and Figuarts, I think it's less clear. Mafex is superior and worth the money but you are getting your bang for your buck with the MVL I think. I wish all MVL were up to this standard. I went Mafex because I knew I wanted a one and done definitive look. Silly neither has an unmasked head. But I've also been happy with the RYV body.

I don’t know about any modern Scarlet Spider appearances but in the 90’s Ben Reilly never had blonde hair when he was in this costume, he only dyed it when he became Spider-Man..

I find it funny that almost every time Hasbro uses the Renew Your Vows mold it’s always on a character who primarily wears red: Spider-Man, Daredevil, Deadpool, Scarlet Spider. It’s kinda funny.

I always thought it was funny that the retro Scarlet Spider came with a blond head and no Ben Reilly Spider-Man ever has since Ben didn't dye his hair blonde until he took on the mantle of Spider-Man in the Sensational Spider-Man series. A more appropriate look would have been to do a Peter head sculpt with slightly longer hair as this was Ben's look for a time as the Scarlet Spider.

If i loved scarlet, id get the mafex. But the design is cool enough to get the ML. The cut back of the neck looks disgusting though. And still has no range. Its better to just not articulate the neck backwards.

Overseas where mafex sells for 60ish it is by far better. Domestically the hasbro version wins. Mostly due to cost and quality being fairly high

The one thing I can't get over is the red on this Ben Reilly is way too glossy and bright, almost candy-like. The last retro-carded one had the perfect shade of duller, darker red. Otherwise this would be the perfect Scarlet Spider.

Hasbro keep lacking of a test room, I guess in the proto this shirt was more soft, but in the factoiy that was change, but the figure is really good, even with that crazy floating head. By this figure i can see, they really can deliver a retro Daredevil, but they just don't want to, interesting.

Overall a great looking figure. The fly in the ointment is that Hasbro still can't do dumbell joints. That neck is terrible. It looks like he's been decapitated. Jada are the new kids and their Street Fighter figs are superb. They don't need an ab crunch. Ball jointwd waist and diaphragm. Buttery smooth posability and they can do full on splits. Nice to see this Scarlet Spidey has a decent spread of paired hands.

I don't know dude the Marvel Legends one is superior in my book, the Mafex one was just way too much of an investment for a character I have very little attachment to, plus he's too skinny, the Legends one is honestly perfect for the price, yeah posing is a bit more limited but it is what it is. But you didn't do the ultimate swap: the Mafex hoodie on the Legends figure, that would be tight.
