This lesson shows you how to create more complex 3d shapes for 3d printers in Fusion 360 by creating tools. This allows you to think in positive space, create a tool and then use the tool to cut a shape using the combine feature. This tutorial will really allow you to improve your 3d design skills

I made it! I'm like Rocky at the top of the stairs! I love you dude! I've watched a number of other tutorials. They were all excellent demonstrations. They did not teach. You, sir, are by far the best TEACHER I've seen for both Fusion 360 and Arduino. (I haven't done any of your other tutorials, but I'm sure you kick butt in those domains as well.)

Thanks a milion, Paul for making this series. Love the way you teach and learned all the fundamentals I needed to get started modeling my own 3d printing models in Fusion 360. P.S. The "Wow, that's good coffee!" at the end really nailed this series. ;)

I just finished all 13 Lessons. I even 3D printed the herringbone gears. Hope that its not the last. You really make this stuff addictive. Today I took apart a fan from an old graphics card. The blade was broken. I know I have the skill to model a new one. Would really love to see your systematic approach.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you so much for making this wonderful series of tutorials. I watched them all in one sitting, and have to say I was captivated right through them all. Now my Fusion 360 makes a whole lot more sense, despite the version differences! Wishing you every success in everything you do from here on!

Hello Paul! I just finished the last lesson in this series. Although an electrical/software engineer for 40 years, outside of pencil/paper drafting in high school, I've never done mechanical design with a CAD program. I enjoyed your lessons and feel like it gave me a solid foundation & the confidence to develop more intricate designs. Thank you.

Well Paul, this training video series has been most enjoyable and so inspiring...So much so, that I’ve enrolled for a college course to extend my grasp on FUSION 360, and as a 67 year old, it’s been a decision I didn’t take lightly.....A really big thank you for your determination to get this wizardry across in a way that sets the benchmark in teaching....enjoy your M&M’s........Kind Regards.

Hi Paul, I've just finished the 13 part tutorial. Thank you very much. It's just what I needed. I'm a hobbies woodworker who has a 3D printer. I had started to watch an excellent series of videos on Fusion for woodworkers and was very enthused but when I started to try it I went through the range of emotions that you so eloquently describe in your first video. Your approach was perfect for me. I have really been able to get to grips with it. Even the way you get yourself out of trouble has been so helpful. I'm so grateful to you. I was on the brink of giving up so was taken and could empathise entirely with the series title. Thanks again. Keep up the great work 👍👍 Robert

Paul - Thanks for the great Fusion 360 series! I truly hope you will add a few more lessons with a deeper dive into functional mechanisms. I tried other CAD tools, but none had the support I wanted for CAD to CAM 3D printing and CNC engraving/relief cutting. You stripped away the complexity and made the learning slope very gentle. You've helped create a new generation of Makers!

Awesome last video of the course Paul! Btw. if anyone by now struggles to find the "Project/Include", in the newer versions of Fusion360 you will first have to start or edit a sketch and only then it will provide you with it under "create". Also: If you are still in the sketch, the "Move/Copy" will not be able to select the tool-body (or any other body in that matter), so you first have finish the sketch and then move the body. Paul, thanks again for the very awesome tutorial-series! I loved it and learned a big amount of new skills all thanks to you.

Please do more videos on fusion 360. Your's are the ones that prevented me from quitting after many, many hours. I gave up trying to learn the sheet metal section because I just couldn't get past Autodesk's useless info for beginners. Anything you can do further would help countless others. I have already given a number of my friends your website. They were all extremely frustrated prior to that and now are continuing to use Fusion. Autodesk should definitely pay you to promote their fantastic software which has virtually no intelligible support for anyone new to any CAD program.

I can actually understand the Fusion tutorials on the Autodesk web site now. No hope before. I think we should celebrate with a video on coffee! You look like a true connoisseur of my favourite beverage. We can talk about what types of coffee you should drink for the various operations in Fusion. Coffee is indeed my love language. I source my beans from the very top of Mount Elgon, and grown in the shadow of the most beautiful Sipi Water Falls. By sourcing my coffee there, I do not mean I order it, I mean I trek up the mountain and buy from the farmer who grows it. Then I return to my home and after sorting and cleaning the raw beans, I roast them to perfection. Some to a dark oily French Roast, which makes a delicious ice coffee, and some to a lighter roast for a rich and creamy cappuccino. I roast the coffee once a week, and grind right before brewing. Coffee is indeed one of the genuine joys of life.

Excellent video Paul ! I was sort of scratching my head wondering why you would go to all this trouble to create a tool like this then it dawned upon me that it is much easier to design complex shapes on an external surface than in a recess ! You could make a locking mechanism that has your initials 3D printed in the bottom of a recess of a locking mechanism and on the end of a key to make your own personal lock !
