Wow that was amazing. Make me think back to a RL flight to Amsterdam I was on r years ago. Was sitting right at the front of the left wing, and didn't see the runway markings till we were just about to touchdown.

Just saw that. Holy crap, that’s like landing in Syracuse, Ny. USA. I’ve seen this during lake effect snows there. Outside the aircraft you in all honesty could not see your hand before your face. 6+ inches of snow per hour. Almost could not breath, the snow is that heavy. Landing an F28 with Empire airlines back in 1987. The ramp crew had to come out onto the taxiway and walk the aircraft to the gate, about 3/4 mile. KSYR closed the airport after that arrival only to open in 30 minutes later. They knew how to deal with snow there.

That's the spirit! In Germany the airport would probably have been closed for weeks 😂

Challenging landing. I'm only learning the MSFS MD-80 right now, and the video helped me understand ILS + Autoland mode better, thanks for that! One question: Autoland put the plane on the runway rather "violently" with V-Speed of -493 ft per minute 😁 Does the MD-80 not have autoflare, or is it just not implemented in MSFS?
@TeIFazntVFX Жыл бұрын
It does have flare, as you can see in 10:38, maybe it was because of the conditions or how he set the ILS.
@srstacy2 жыл бұрын
I had the same thing happen this morning while flying the Inibuilds A310 from San Fransisco to Atlanta. Real world weather set and I didn't see a thing until the countdown to flare. It was good to see autoland work as advertised!

fog here in Atlanta this morning was wild. Couldn't see the threshold at my local field

Indeed it is! The first time I'm doing an autoland in a new aircraft and on a runway where I haven't done one yet in the sim is always a bit of an excitement as you never know what they hold up for you. 😂

That was beautifully executed. It's not often there are CAT3 conditions. I've never honestly experienced it I have to say with live weather (only setting it up myself).
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
Even in real life I only encounter actual CAT III conditions maybe two or three times a year. It's something you really don't do often. What happens a bit more often is that the cloud ceiling is so low (talking about 300ft or so here), that you just opt for an autoland in order to use the lower minimums of the CAT II or CAT III approach rather than the CAT I minimum. But that's of course not the same as an actual CAT III landing in low vis conditions!

@@A330Driver I have to say only 2 or 3 times a year surprises me with the climate we have in Europe. I really thought it would be more regular than that. But I bet it is quite a rush being able to fly an aircraft to such low minima without any outside visual cue?

Hi, nice video. I like to fly the MD-82 Maddog. One question please: Why are the three landing gear lights during descent (e.g. in FL 200) for a while illuminated red although the gear is retracted furthermore? Best regards Rolf

Hi Emanuel! May I ask you to make a video on how to act correctly when you need to divert to the nearest apt halfway through (due to passenger misbehaviour, medical emergency, etc). I’ve seen your B737 video, but it's interesting to see the procedures on the A320 mid-flight. Thank you☺️

Hi Oleg, I'll see if that may fit into any livestream at some point. Would be an interesting idea for sure. I'll see if and how that can be realised.

Hi Emanuel. Nice finish to the livestream. I noted the LOC and GS capture, then LOC and GS TRK. If the GS fell out, then was re-captured, does TRK (LOC at 6.24 and GS at 8.12) indicate a more reliable or extended function? i.e. once in TRK mode, it won't fall out? I haven't seen TRK on other a/c - only CAP
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
Not an expert on the MD80 autopilot but I would imagine GS CAPT is similar to GS* in the Airbus, so it's a mode where the plane tries to capture it, not one where it is established and maintains it. Something went wrong during the capture and thus the GS was never captured. That's why I intervened and set it into VS mode.

@@A330Driver thanks for your response. It's actually really good to see things NOT going to plan. I learn more from that, than from expected behaviour. Thanks again

Great Wish planes would shake about a bit on final approach as they do in real life , msfs is way too static
@RobsonM2 жыл бұрын
I believe in most low visibility (fog) conditions air is actually smooth and static as the wind would blow that fog away. You get plenty of movement in MSFS when landing in LGMK with some 15KT wind for instance :)
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
You can get those effects with FSRealistic if you turn the flap drag up, that can add some shaking when your flaps are in the landing position.
@AllenPortman Жыл бұрын
It was cool but I don't think I learned a thing on using autopilot!!!
@taa8052 жыл бұрын
Nice one! How do you get the head movement? My camera view is static on touch down..
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
I'm using FSRealistic for that. However even the default sim should have a headshake on touchdown feature by now. That was added a couple months back.

Would you really be allowed to land in this kind of conditions IRL?
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
Of course. This is 450m RVR, in my airline we can land down to 200m, others can go even lower.
