Johnny Carson is really, really very good at this trick, but it is a trick. The first time he tries to do it, Jerry never looked at the card, he just put it on top of the deck. The trick is, Carson pretends to shuffle the deck but holds on to the top card, and shuffles underneath it. The 3rd time Jerry looks at the card and puts it in the middle of the deck. Carson shuffles the deck after holding on to the card where Jerry places his card. You gotta be really smooth to do this trick right. It takes a lot of practice. It’s a slight of hand but a very effective trick. I wouldn’t spoil the trick if he was doing it to me, but nevertheless, Carson is smooth as silk. It’s a very good trick.

Must be from a kinescope since it's b/w. Was definitely in color in 1969. He didn't have the beard in 1968.

Love this but it makes me sad this is put out by the group that told Jerry he was no longer needed on the telethon and basically ended a show we watched every year for decades.

Are you sure this is 1963? Johnny Carson makes a joke referencing “Let’s Make A Deal” at around 1:27 and the game show didn’t make its on-air debut until December 30th of that year.

This is Telethon 1968. The reference is - Ed's first year! Remember in 1998, when Jerry paid tribute to Ed and they showed the video tribute of the years of them together it started with the clip of them sitting at the table in 1968 - the first year.
