The Italian phrase "Eh cumpari, ci vo' sunari" translates to "Hey buddy, could you play for us": Eh cumpari A Sicilian greeting or term of endearment for a close family friend. "Compare" becomes "cumpari" in Sicilian. Ci vo' sunari Means "could you play for us". In Sicilian, "suonare" becomes "sunari" to mean "to play an instrument". The phrase is from the 1953 Italian novelty song "Eh Cumpari" by Julius LaRosa. The Italian line is used in the song “Saturday in the Park” by Chicago, and it is about the peace and love that people experience in Central Park on Saturdays. The song's lyrics convey the feelings of being part of a day when people relax and enjoy each other's company. Robert Lamm, Chicago's keyboardist, singer, and songwriter, wrote the song based on footage he shot in Central Park in the early 1970s. He jotted down ideas while watching the film, which he edited into a narrative. Julius LaRosa on Jerry's telethon. I truly miss them both and miss The MD Telethon each Labor day weekend. I remember Julius on here on this telethon. I watched it every year from 1960 til it was taken over when Jerry was unable and it died off.
