I'm not very likely to set up a tank again, I'm old and have enough hobbies to fill my days until I wind up in an urn on some poor unlucky relative's mantelpiece, but I enjoy you immensely. I'm really spoiled by British content, I just can't take my fellow American's weird obsessions with predatory fish, the bravado, the boasting about the "most epic fish room ever", it's embarrassing that we are so sure that we are the best at everything. I've winnowed down my list to you and Matt for fishy entertainment. Give me that self-deprecating British humor, slagging off your friends, and the quiet confidence of a guy like you building one beautiful environment after another, making fun of your own quirks, while educating and entertaining us with ease and grace just for the love of your hobby. It is so gratifying to see a new post from MD Fish Tanks, it is always guaranteed entertainment. Thank you for hours of fun!

I tried a sorority like this in my 40 gallon breeder. The two keys with female betta sororities is number and foliage. I found that when i let them get down to 6 the aggression got bad. 16 was a good number, 20 seems perfect to curve the aggression. Lots of plants is key as well. There should be no visibility from one side of tank to the other. Lots of floating plants as well since bettas are labyrinth fish and love to hang out at the top. I miss my sorority. It was so fun. I disagree with those who say its inhumane. You just need to do your research. Mine were thriving. No stress stripes and always dancing around wonderfully at feeding time. Will keep these again in thr future. Im a betta fan for sure. Have 2 males now.
@lukewallenbeck7645 Жыл бұрын
I know you're very concerned about the beta fish health and well being. Easy way to test the theory about stress stripes, is to take one of the fish and put them in a smaller set up alone and see if their stripes go away. Might be an interesting video!

"lets see if we can make a starter tank look as good as the box so if it's your first tank you can see how easy it is!" **proceeds to use materials from older tanks** - I love your videos i'm just poking fun. It would be pretty funny to see you do a challenge where you have to go to petsmart or petco and you can only use what you buy that trip for that tank. It'd be fun to see the growth and if it really does make a huge difference to use already cycled substrate, etc.

Great scape as always! One thing that might look better is if you remove some of the plants between the three "points". I believe it will highlight the wood and plants around it. Otherwise the background seems so "flat" if it is full with plants but that's just my opinion 😆

Very nice indeed! I do like these starter kits, they're great value for money. I haven't seen SuperFish here in the Netherlands, but a few weeks ago I picked up a Tetra starter kit, which was 100 euros for a 60x30x30 including filter with media and flat sponges, heater that goes in the filter housing, light in the lid, a bottle of SafeStart and a small jar of food, for my Platies, and it's been doing fantastic. Just like you, I would definitely recommend these starter kits, both for new enthusiasts in the hobby as well as for more experienced aquarists like myself; you just can't beat the value for money ^_^

Would be cool to perhaps see a shallow tank made with Timmy's old tank. Maybe a small school of nano fish that will be fine in shallow water. If not even a shrimp setup would be nice as I think it would be a bit of a different scape for you which would be quite a cool "challenge" to see
