I leave the clippings on my lawn. They mulch the lawn and give back nutrient as they decompose. It is true, on grass as long as this, you really can't leave the clippings. On large properties, which are essentially abandoned, the clippings are better left on the lot rather than sent to crowd a landfill.

Seeing the neighbor in the background of the shot @ 6:20 just stand and watch you guys doing that first strip of sidewalk, I KNEW it was gonna be them that allowed their animals to make a mess of someone else's property! Then they just allow their dogs to walk off-leash RIGHT AFTER you just finished that section!? Disgusting and irresponsible! They should be ashamed. Other than that, amazing job fellas! You and your father remind me of my own journey in life. My father was an immigrant who came to this country and worked his butt off to live the American Dream. In the process, he taught my brothers and me the meaning and value of a hard day's work.
@LazyIRanch4 ай бұрын
Immigrants built our country, and unless one is Native American, ALL of us are immigrants or progeny of immigrants! NONE of my ancestors lived in the Americas 200 years ago. Most, on both sides of my family, came here during the 1800s, from lots of different countries across the oceans. My German great grandparents faced a lot of hate during the early part of the 20th century because of the two World Wars. I looked up census records, and saw that they changed the spellings of their names and their children's names to "Americanize" them. "Karl Friedrich" became "Carl Frederick", "Wilhelm" became "William", etc. However, what they endured was mild compared to the hate inflicted upon brown and black folks in our nation today by certain people. I'm ashamed that racism has only increased, when as a child I thought there would be no racism tolerated in the 21st century. My grandmother, who died in 1932, was biracial but I only discovered this recently. All my life I was told she was "Cherokee". Nope! Her family was from Wales, but mostly they were Ibarian and N. African! I'm happy to learn this, but in the 20th century it was a family secret no one talked about.
@ca61774 ай бұрын
. Thank you for sharing your immigrant background! You are absolutely right in saying that black and brown immigrants get a lot of hate from lighter skinned "americans" in the very misguided notion that they are the rightful owners of America, never understanding that they ALL decendants of immigrants! We can only hope it changes, but I lose hope unfortunately! Btw, I am a Hispanic whose family was born here but was still treated as not belonging here! Very angering!

@@ca6177 I'm sorry you get harassed like that. I see that happen a lot here in SoCal, but I'll never understand why people are so hateful. I moved to S. California 23 years ago, and I'm getting to live my dream since childhood, of living off-grid on remote land where I have only one neighbor within 2 miles. His name is Oskar, he's a US citizen latino man who is growing cannabis, legally! He paid for the permits, and he's a wonderful neighbor. I grow some myself for personal use, most folks do around here. As an old white lady, I'm the minority around here and I never forget that this land was Mexico not that long ago, before that it was home to the Cahuilla tribe. They still have a reservation, I'm a stone's throw from their sovereign land and I don't trespass. This place is still wild and very beautiful. The wildlife is amazing, the longer I live here the more the wildlife seems to accept me. A family of friendly ravens lives here, and I feed them and interact with them. I met the new babies yesterday, their first time flying! I tossed some peanuts and chicken skin on the shed roof for them. I live for moments like that. We still have mountain lions up here. Scary, but what a thrill to see them up close!😳 I don't kill anything, but I do own a rifle just in case. I've learned to get along with even the rattlesnakes. They aren't aggressive.
