Why do lighted beacons always use Red Tear Drops whether green or red? WHy not green tear drops on map? Thanks

Why have the lateral aids lights put the red on the starboard side and the green on the port side

to confuse the Germans during the Second World War. Its IALA A vs B

I a little confused about the Cape Henry 'RACON' light. It appears to me that there is a "typo error" since the picture of the chart that I see 'on screen' shows Morse Code of _._.(dash, dot, dash, dot or long, short, long, short) which is definitely not the letter A (dot, dash or ._), --- unless it is always preceded by a _ (dash)symbol for RACON lights. Please explain what I'm missing, since I'm very new to sailing and appreciate your educational videos.

If you are asking about the buoy RW "CH" Mo (A) Whis RACON just east of Cape Henry... The light sequence is Mo(A) but the RACON signal placed on your radar screen is (-.-.) I call your attention to the USCG Light List Volume II which you can download from the NGA website, for a detailed description of this subject

It's a real pain you guys reverse the buoy system to the rest of the world. We should have forced you to adapt the same as everyone else, it's pretty dangerous. Thanks for the upload though.

I laughed when I seen the word "Forced" like that could ever happen....

i heard somewhere that there used to be some 30 different systems for lights before IALA narrowed it down to two.. one system everywhere would be ideal but then the stubborn USA needs to do things different than most of the rest of the world..

The USA reversed the colors of marks during the War of 1812 to confuse the British. It must have worked.

I'm sure this gentleman is super knowledgeable and excellently well qualified, but I feel very uncomfortable getting technical advice from someone who uses Microsoft Internet Explorer. I just am.
