How does WinPE determines which task sequence to use when booting from F12 PXE? I have two task sequences and also keeps failing with various errors in which first one is "The TaskSequenceID is blank".

Hello, I am installing Windows server 2022 using MDT. The Server OS gets installed on the bare metal system fine. Then I am put the system on different network (not the same network as MDT server) and then reboot. Now, system is blocking many apps and asks for admin approval. My question is how can I deploy the os, using MDT, which does not ask for admin approval once rebooted and put it on different network?

Hey bro I’m trying to image win 10 1909 and each time it restarts after deployment starts it’s asking for task sequence again. Is there a way I can suppress that so it continues on to the deployment without any interruption?

Bernard, Have you tried to install Office 2016 during a deployment? I'm having a difficult time doing do. every time I try to install, it just hangs forever, I'm using the adminfile to customize the install,. I've also tried using a default installation. Please help, running MDT 2013 update 2.

Question. My task sequence stops running after it restarts and logs in and doesn't continue to install applications. I don't have any errors on my BDD logs. Any idea what could be causing this?

that's a strange one. what version of MDT are you running? and have you tried recreating your TS and testing it out again

Great videos! I have one question in case anyone knows. If I want to create a capture of an existing server to deploy this custom wim file at a later point if the OS gets corrupted and I simply want to avoid doing a fresh install and configuring everything from scratch, would I simply go ahead and disable under the deployment part of it the format and partition section under the pre-install task sequence? I've found not doing this, completely erases my main drive and any partitions I had in there. It them does leave some of the applications I had installed (example: mcafee) but it completely removes anything I had on my secondary partitions (example E:) . I don't want to create an image capture with sysprep to deploy it to other computer or virtual computers. I simply want a full capture in case of an OS failure I can replace this up, and was wondering again if by disabling the sysprep during the capture process and the format and partition during the deployment process I can accomplish this.

You will need to customize your task sequence to only wipe and install your capture image to the C drive. MDT 2013 is very old, so you should be running MDT 8450 (I think that's the latest one). In that version you do not need to disable sysprep like I did on this video. Microsoft finally got there stuff together on MDT 8450 - some what lol. Have you looked into other ways in backing up your server? do you have a RAID configuration setup on the server? Have you thought about virtualizing the physical server - you can take advantage of snapshots and backing up the VM. If your stuck in using MDT. I would recommend doing some research on the task sequence when deploying your capture server to not wipe all the partitions and to pin point on the OS. Best of luck. Happy deploying!!
