Instead of this..u can simply go with...right click on the folder in which u have got problem->properties->security->in that select "to change permissions, click edit"->then select "Everyone" from group or user names->then tick the "full control" "modify" and "write permissions" then click apply and ok...then it will give this warning " Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access denied." just keep on clicking "continue" until that warning message stops...then try saving a new file...i just tried and got it fixed! Hope this will help...(mine is Windows 10)

I installed a new program (similar to Notepad) but I get a permissions error everytime I use it (but Notepad can open the same file with no problem). So it seems as if the 'exe' file needs permission but when I go through your procedure it appears to have all the permissions that Notepad has!?! So I'm baffled what else to do.

Perfect. I new there was a way to globally deal with this problem. Most of the other videos only dealt with one file at a time. I'll perform this procedure and see if it works. The application program had the problem, and I'm not sure if windows had the problem. If the application still has access issues, does this mean I might have to reinstall the application? Note, the application is attempting to access its own project files, created using the previous instance of windows. Note: 1) I had this problem when upgrading from Win10Home to Win10Pro. I guess all my modules that were locked were accessed and created with the old Win10Home username. Which is identical, however, to the system now. So the obvious question is why does the same user no longer have access? Now, I will add the user was listed as "system" before, which begins to answer the question as to why. Because the system parameters perhaps changed when changing to Win10Pro. Feel free to expand.

Great video! Would've been better if you bullet point some parts of the video like the first one when you were going to the User's file you should've bullet point as (Your user file) and then the one where you edit the file and click on Full Control, bullet point it as (Misc. files) because I usually have installing problem on my main music producing file where I have my DAW (FL Studio, BitWig) and my plugins and samples located. So clicking the Full Control box under that file really helped me.

Good clear tutorial, but though I followed step by step, I got to the bit after find, OK and then go back to change, I tick the box below my name and go "an error occurred while applying security information C:/ [file I'm trying to change the permissions for] \activated_process_categorization.dll.
