The way he slowly gets more depressed absolutely kills me. Especially when it goes from him sitting on the couch with Trucy, a small smile on his face and still in his suit, to him in his more laidback clothes on the same couch without Trucy. That part actually hurt. Poor Phoenix. Also the parallels to your 'Calm Me Down' animatic are super cool. Especially the part around 1:53. Though what's sad is that the loud celebration of recovery is missing, making it both bittersweet and personal.

Unfortunately, not every recovery process can end in an eccentric celebration. Even if it does get better eventually, sometimes it’s a long and tedious process that feels like it’s never going to end. I feel like that’s how it was for Phoenix for all those 8 years without his badge. Capcom just brushed it off, but looking at all the clues thrown at us (for example, Phoenix’s implied alcoholism, Trucy’s remarks about money and her allowance, Phoenix saying how she was his only sunshine etc), it becomes obvious that it was a horrible time for him all throughout. But even if it didn’t get better for a long time, he always had people who supported him and were there for him no matter what happened, which made it better. I like to imagine that Miles played a part in that too, maybe not being able to fix everything, but at least making it less terrible. Anyway, I’m sorry for such a long reply. I really appreciate your comment and I am glad that the animatic was successful in conveying these emotions. Thank you 💕💕💕
