What a fantastic story. Thank you for sharing this. Family heirloom for sure. Love that your mom never said to be careful because it was expensive, but knew it was a well crafted pen that would serve you well as a young fountain pen user just entering the adult journey. It must have brought her so much joy to be able to gift it to you. ❤ She knew the real value, the memories and stories that would be made with it. Beautiful.

Thank you so much for opening your book... Aside from great production value, sound modulation, and all of that crap, this is one of the most enjoyable KZbins I've had the pleasure of viewing. I'm in my mid 60's, first generation American (both parents from Germany) growing up my father wrote exclusively with Parker 51s or one of 3 Montblanc 149s. Mother wrote exclusively with a Pelikan. Whereas you "connection" with your 146 runs far deeper than anything I have experienced, I understand, admire and appreciate your relationship. I am partial, to all ....51's, Pelikans, 146's, that I have accumulated over the years. Thank you again....consider me "subscribed"

Tadashi, I have really enjoyed your videos - and this story most of all. I dare say, many a child has had a simillar experience. So often, we don't recognize the true value of something until later. Yet, I would venture that it is also later that the true value actually manifests. Your pen may not have held the same value today, had you known it's cash value when it was gifted to you. I suspect it's value might be different had it lived a guarded life in a desk drawer all these years. Not necessarily less value, yet quite different. Thru these videos, it seems you are quite a good-natured gentleman with an active sense of humor. Would much enjoy an exchange of letters, if you're ever so inclined.

Your story with the music provided great imagery and emotion. It was the tale of a pen. But, more of a young boy, who became a man, then a father and who will one day be just a memory. The pen has a story of it's own. A loyal companion that will hopefully provide years of use and the creation of new memories with your son. The lovely drawing was a nice bonus. Thank you for sharing. Fountain pen with converter and piston can erase the air bobble, sometime I take ink with half capacity of pen, nib to up, erase the remain air and refill the ink until the pen full. I also drop 4~6 ink and let the ink flow along the bottle, that I waste the min ink I'm newer to write English

Class act - the pen and the illustrator. Bought one in Harrods, London, about 40 years ago . Rarely used until now - I'm retired and want to take up the old art of letter writing. I have a problem with inkflow ie not enough I'm using ordinary Quink ink - will Mont Blanc ink make any difference?
@tadashibyers9377
@tadashibyers9377 2 жыл бұрын
My 146 is a dry writer and it prefers lubricated or wetter inks. As my pen has aged it flows better possibly due to multiple cleanings including flossing the nib which I believe has improved in flow over time as well. I find great pleasure in writing letters the old-fashioned way after years of email and text. Enjoy!
@Elconbrioso
@Elconbrioso 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I've tried out my pen on some expensive writing paper and it's made a big difference The paper is blue and has a lined texture to it. Whereas the cheap white paper I used before, would behave like a kind of blotting paper that allowed the ink to bleed through to the other side - the blue paper does not. Anyhow, here's to success in all your illustrations

So sorry for such a late reply. I have used a number of different inks in my Mont Blanc pen. I find that it works really well with almost anything except pigmented ink. This pen does not like pigmented ink like Platinum Pigmented Blue or Platinum Carbon Black. It’s a good idea to stay away from these inks anyway in a pen that you cannot disassemble and clean yourself because they tend to leave residue in the pens so I also don’t like them for piston fillers or eyedropper‘s. I enjoy using the Mystery Black just because I like pairing the Mont Blanc ink to the pen and really for no other reason except that I do like the Mystery Black. thanks for asking

@tadashibyers9377
@tadashibyers9377 3 жыл бұрын
I really haven’t tried that many inks ever as I tend to just stick with what I’ve got. I have only tried a couple of Mont Blanc inks most of which I think are a little pricey so I would have to say that this mystery black is not only a good price but a decent ink as well. So, I guess it would be Mystery Black.
