The 15" Woofer Challenge (RESULTS) - 3 Brands 3 teams, best box wins BIG (VID 2 of 2)

The First SMD 15" Woofer Contest - Best box wins! 6 catagories, 3 teams, 3 different (similar spec) brands. Catagories are:
Loudest
Average Loudest 20-80hz
Look
Speed
Durability
bonus for Trunk
1st worth 15pts, 2nd worth 10pts, and 3rd worth 5. Is your box loud but ugly? You might not win! Is it pretty but shitty (sounding)? It might not win.......is it stout or will it shatter the first night playing it? I will be looking at wiring, structure, cleanliness of boards (lined up), and bracing. The entire back seat all the way to the B-Pillar is available but If they choose to put the box in the trunk, they get a 10 point bonus. Is this contest perfect, NO...is it fun and will i get better as a host? I HOPE SO! Thanks for watching!
The video was running long so i decided to do it in 2 parts. Watch video 1 to understand whats going on!
Before you say, "i recognize some of these guys, they are your friends", there is no secret here that a few of them are indeed my friends. I put the word out on my website and facebook last week and only a couple people showed up. It was partly my fault, it was short notice. I dont like putting my address on the net for too long so short notice seemed to be a good idea. Most the locals know where i am at anyway. I put the word out the following Saturday (the day in the video) and it was the same thing, only a couple showed up. I HAD to call in some friends and said "FUCK IT, you guys want in?" Of course they did. Nobody in the competition is a pro and it was a lot of fun. I shouldnt have to explain myself but i figured i would in case someone tries to call me out. Some jackass did in the last video comments. Anyway, Ask anyone in the competition, it was 100% on the level. Next time, maybe some of the people who flaked out will see im serious when i say BIG prizes. People walked away with over $2000.00 MSRP of gear, cash, and spray foam (LOLZ)

This is my first time doing this so excuse the lack of professionalism in my broadcast. This is a lot of work to put together but it was fun to do! We will be doing this again!

Everything went wrong with team 3: they had the last subwoofer pick, their subwoofer packaging was an ugly cardboard box that looked opened, their subwoofer box had a hole in the corner, their subwoofer broke, they had no port, and their team members had little experience. That is like the ultimate disaster.

@trent1234108 MSRP on that AQ2200 is $875, the AQ3500 is MSRP $1599.99. Those subs are $340 each but im sure MSRP is twice that...just like the rest of their gear. You also have to understand, RF is a 35yr old company, a REAL company, not someone ordering equipment from some far away place and selling them on the internet from his house. Not that their is anything wrong with that but im trying to explain the difference. Plus there is technology in this amp that other brands simply dont have.

this is SO awesome! I'm currently installing my pioneer champion amp in my '14 Chevy malibu. and trying to decide what subwoofer I want to have in my car, without taking up a lot of room. I have pioneers all around. the front speakers 6.5, 350 watts, the back speakers 6.9, 400 watts and the trunk also 6.9, 460 watts. the amp is a 4 way channel 600 watts. now, I need to decide WHAT sub to get. I don't want anything TOO booming. I have a child! lol

Kicker is a good reliable company for subwoofers.I have two cvr15s my self 2003 model! Still banging!!

@letemrip32 Steve built those towers with passive radiator cones on either side of the sub. The passive radiator looks just like a sub on the outside but has no magnet structure behind it. They allow the internal volume of the box to expand and contract while the sub is playing and therefore it reacts very similar to a ported box without the need for a physical hole. This setup is pretty popular in home theater. Hope this clears it up a bit.
