Sick video bro! I’m 47 and getting back into trail and singletrack riding. This looks like a nice trail to ride for someone looking to get back into riding. Doesn’t appear to be too technical. I rode the Green Loop trail at Foujtainhead the other day and it kicked my a$$ THATS how out of shape I am LOL Gonna give this a try in the next day or two. Great video man!

Thanks man! Meadowood is perfect for all skill levels! It's not AS punchy as Fountainhead either. It's more rolling and then has one larger climb. I generally preferred riding it in the clockwide direction like this video (though you can ride it either direction). I've since made a new channel and my riding has progressed significantly as well, come on over and watch some of my latest videos and subscribe if you'd like: kzbin.info/door/OefYGSDJX-8urJ09rzxpkg

nice video! what are you riding?
@IvanReid8 жыл бұрын
Lambert Mixson thank you! I'm riding a Specialized Stumpjumper Fsr Expert Carbon Evo. I'm from Chicagoland, moving to the DC area soon so I was checking out the local trails. It's a bit more rocky/pebbly than I'm used to, hence the slide out crashes ;)
@BIKINGWITHBOBO8 жыл бұрын
word, i've heard that about the trails in that area
@IvanReid8 жыл бұрын
Not sure where you're located, but if you're ever in the area and want to ride, feel free to hit me up!

I just got a new Talon and I am back after like 15 and I am having a blast and I live in Woodbridge
@IvanReid4 жыл бұрын
Hey Enoc! Welcome back and thanks for the sub! My friend and I got him a Talon and have also ridden it at Meadowood! If you're unfamiliar, more trails in the immediate area are Fountainhead, Laurel Hill, Wakefield / Accotink, and a bit further is Lake Fairfax. FYI, I've since made a new channel, feel free to come on over and subscribe - kzbin.info

looks like a great trail looking at hitting virginia in a few months for some riding. got yourself a new subscriber.
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
mtnbkmaniac Thanks for the sub! It is a great trail indeed! Nice and close to home as well. Virginia has plenty of awesome mountain biking trails. The most notable trails near DC are probably Fountainhead, Meadowood, and Lake Fairfax. Further south in Virginia there are great trails as well, such as Richmond (very large trail system). To the west, in the mountains, the options are seemingly endless.
@mtnbkmaniac7 жыл бұрын
i appreciate that. my brother lives in stafford and wants me to come for a visit. gotta bring my bike.
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
Definitely! Also close to Stafford would be the Fredericksburg Quarry. A good trail system, but it can be tricky to find the flow. Meadowood and the Green/Blue loop at Fountainhead will leave you with smiles for miles!

im not too hard core. but love some challenges will have to pull some videos of these to see what they look like. check out my channel when you get a chance.

What park are these trails in ?

Is there any road cycling around here?
@IvanReid4 жыл бұрын
Roads are busy and filled with traffic around DC. Most popular routes in this area are Mount Vernon trail (paved path along the potomac, very nice), leads up to the gravel C&O Canal Towpath in Great Falls. The paved WO&D is also popular.

looks like a good trail to practice w/ my hardtail. What made you crash? you just kinda fell, dunno if the conditions were too muddy. Does the trails loop? hate getting lost lol.
@IvanReid4 жыл бұрын
Definitely a great trail for a hardtail! First slide out near the tree was because of loose gravel in that turn. 2nd crash, the hard one, got a little too far inside on the trail - caught a little bit of mud, some leaves, and the edge of the dirt that was rising. Down I went, haha. My riding has come a long way since this video, and I've started a new channel - come join if you'd like! kzbin.info Yes, the trail loops, with a couple of optional loops within it. Highly recommend downloading the mtb project app, for any trail. That will help keep you from getting lost

Jealous. I tried this trail out and there were more “hikers” wearing air pods than actual mountain bikers. Would you say that’s the norm for this area?
@IvanReid4 жыл бұрын
As you may be aware, that's likely the lockdown effect... lots of people on the trails, and lots of people who weren't normally trail users. My guess is it will fade with time. I'd see hikers on occassion, but not very often and usually well aware of their surroundings. I've since made a new channel, Global Trail Guide, if you'd like to watch the latest and subscribe

@IvanReid3 жыл бұрын
It’s a fantastic ride, be sure to get out there! I was a relatively new mountain biker at this time and pushing hard to ride fast 😅 a combination like that results in crashes lol. However, my skills progressed rapidly and Meadowood quickly became one of my favorite places to ride
@diamondsprince7 жыл бұрын
would you say these trails are good for mtb beginners? solid ride man
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
diamondsprince thanks man. Yes, definitely a great ride for beginners. I bring all of my friends here to show them what MTB is all about. Fun trails with just a couple of climbs (you need those to have fun on the way down ;)) and the trails are filled with cool features
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
diamondsprince another popular local trail for beginners is Laurel Hill, but it may feel like more of a leisurely stroll through a field versus mountain biking ;) they also added gravel to all of the trails, so some beginners may feel uneasy on the loose surface. I highly recommend Meadowood
@diamondsprince7 жыл бұрын
IpperCam thanks for responding man. i wanna pick up mtbiking to lose weight so those uphills will help with that. only problem is this place is an hour drive away. time to load up the pals and take a ROADTRIP!
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
No problem! Where do you live (approx), I may be able to suggest other trails nearby. Meadowood is certainly worth it and if you guys want a solid workout, then check out Meadowood first and then Fountainhead in the same day. Fountainhead is super popular. You're reminding me that I need to get out there and make more videos ;) I've been riding, just not recording! MTBProject.com is a great resource for finding trails. They also have an app

IpperCam i live in Fauquier county. (if you have any idea of where that is) the closest trail that mtbproject lists isin Gainesville

What kind of fork r u using and do u recommend this for hard tails
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
Thomas Nguyen hey Thomas, the bike I am riding in this video is a Stumpjumper FSR Expert Carbon Evo. It has a 150mm Rockshox Pike RC with a 150mm Fox Factory rear shock. I wouldn't recommend such a long fork for a hardtail, but the Pike is a fantastic fork and I highly recommend it. Regarding fork travel, it would depend on the type of riding you were looking to do. Most people with hardtails prefer to stay in the 100mm-120mm range. What type of bike do you have and what type of trails do you ride?
@thomasnguyen56397 жыл бұрын
IpperCam I have a 120mm SR Suntour Axon elite 29er
@IvanReid7 жыл бұрын
I'm not personally familiar with that fork, but from what I can see, it looks like a pretty solid fork. The most common manufacturers known for producing reputable forks are Fox and Rockshox. Are you looking to upgrade your fork, if so, why? Maybe I can help to point you in the right direction.
