Great video, Emily. I'm glad you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried the lentils. Now, you should try the red lentils. I like to use them with chicken stock and a few vegetables for soup. I never soak my lentils because they cook in 20-30 minutes. I love it when you, Brooke, and Vicki do the collaborations. Fun, Fun, Fun.

Hello back Riley😊 Jake should taste test more often, you could tell he liked it because he kept on eating. We adopted a deaf dog, she's the best! We put a little bell on her collar so we know where she is and she only barks when she gets stuck somewhere and can't find her way out(she's old and a bit blind too) or when she can smell chicken being cooked as chicken is her most favourite thing in her world.

Love, love lentils. My go-to. You don't have to soak them. However, they do give off a different texture if you fry them while frying onions. Thank you sharing. Blessings😊.

Emily, you're so cute and so are your man and your girls. I knew you'd slay the $5 meal because Brooke always talks about how creative both of you were as children figuring out meals and treats to create with what little food there was. I watch Brooke, Aunt Vickie and you now and really enjoy your wholesome family content. You all remind me of summer's spent with my Southern relatives while staying on my grandparents farm, it all feels familiar, comforting and fun. I remember cooking and laughing in the kitchen with my granny and my aunts, good heart warming memories. That farm was my favorite place on Earth, a safe haven I felt really rooted to and loved there, my grandpa was a really special man . Those people are all gone now and the farm belongs to someone else that let it all fall into disrepair but it all lives on in my heart, mind and memories. Rescued a kitten and tried to remove it. It yowled all the time. My friends said I would never be able to remove if I kept telling everyone that it yowled.... si I told people I had a chinese cat whose name was Yow Li. A friend too the kitty and later told me that he yowled a lot because he had ear mites. Got him fixed up at vet and was doing great. They kept the name Yow Li. 😊

You can add cooked lentils to ground meat to expand a meat loaf or to use a little less meat since it is getting so expensive... lentils can Sttttreeetch recipes and add plant based protein.... loved this episode 😊

Emily, i just LOVE you! “She is beauty and she’s grace, she’s lentil soup in your face….” Oh how wonderful - food and original poetry all rolled into one! Just FYI, my father really liked lentils, so I have been eating them since early childhood in the 1950’s - YUM! You don't need to soak them like most beans because they are so small. Another great use for lentils is to make lentil patties - a vegan burger! I also like lentil cabbage rolls. For these, you take cooked lentils and thicken them with flour or oats or chick pea flour, then use the thickened mixture like ground meat. There are lots of good recipes on the internet!

We like lentils around here! I like them because they freeze super well after cooked. I like to make a huge batch of lentil stew with some stew beef and freeze the leftovers for an extra meal I don’t have to cook. Lentil chili is also great. I do mix in some ground beef but it stretches a long long way. I like it on top of a baked potato or hot dog.

Of course me and my sisters picked on her relentlessly growing up but you better believe nobody else picked on our baby!! I’m actually the baby but she had allot of medical issues so she was more the baby than I was. She grew into a beautiful strong woman and raised 5 kids!!! ❤❤❤. This thing about your cat is so funny. My cat is almost 20. She’s in the same boat. She wanders around the house yowling and does that same startle thing if she doesn’t see you coming. I have a friend whose cat would walk to the end of the hallway, sit facing the wall and meow really loudly. She couldn’t figure out what was going on so she finally stood behind her to understand why she meowed at the wall. Well it kind of echoed. That’s how she found out her cat was deaf. She could kind of hear herself when she meowed against the wall. 🤭
