Please, Barrett is the ONLY major player in "Mean Girls" that failed to garner even a single award nomination, while the REAL QUEEN, Taylor Louderman is nominated for the Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League awards as the best leading actress. Ashley Park is the strongest supporting actess in the show and has been nominated for every award out there, including the Tony, for her role as Gretchen. Sydney, I'm a girl too and would gladly give my left testicle to play Regina or Cady. lol If you consider yourself to be a top-notch actress, you always go for the leading roles. Some of you people don't seem to realize how difficult it is to become a top actress. It's very difficult even if you're immensely talented. I think Taylor, Ashley, and Erika were trained at a top notch musical theater school with only a 6% acceptance rate, so they've had a tough & competitive road even before they left drama school. Also Grey Henson was trained at another top musical theater school, so he's apparently worked very hard. I'm not surprised that Taylor, Ashley, and Grey are Tony nominees. It's all about aspiring to be at the top of your field or craft, and that's not a popularity contest. It's about endless training and very hard work, so they deserve all of the credit and accolades they can muster.

Yes, it does. "Mean Girls" is tied for the most Tony nominations of all Broadway shows this year. Also you can keep the so-called critically acclaimed "Hamilton" for yourself. I'm definitely not into rap music and "Hamilton" is too anachronistic to be credible and interesting to me. Also the cast of "Hamilton" isn't exactly eye candy. Sorry, but my opinion is that "Hamilton" is vastly overrated, at least for my taste. "Mean Girls" was much more entertaining for me.

Lausanne28 I think eye candy is a matter of taste. nobody in this show appeals to me. I don’t see shows for eye candy. I did I’d find the cast of Hamilton more physically attractive but honestly I’m not crazy about that show. This show seems like more my kind of show because it’s less pretentious. However the music leaves me a bit cold thus far. I also think it’s a bit over staged and I think the staging is of it is derivative of Andy Blankenbuehler’s work in Hamilton. Keep in mind I don’t love Hamilton but these comments about if you don’t like rap you like Hamilton seem a non point to me. I love rap and hip-hop but I don’t love Hamilton. I think that’s the problem the rap in Hamilton seems Broadway to me. I think the majority people that Have seen and loved Hamilton actually aren’t rap fans. Just because a show has 12 Tony nominations doesn’t mean it’s better than any other show. Avenue Q beat Wicked and that speaks for itself. And the proof is who actually wins. the competition is too stiff for this show to do well at the Tonys. Although I wish it great box office success. . I like this show I’m very interested in it but I think it’s pointless to compare it to shows like Hamilton. Or even legally blonde!

To the people who are not fans of the lyrics right now, I'd like for you guys to remember that these are teenagers singing! And I know, you might say that: what about Heathers? Dear Evan Hansen? Be More Chill? They were teenagers yet they had really deep and meaningful lyrics! Yeah! But, those musicals had a really deeper theme to it. The characters are teenagers who have quotes such as "Because I just have a BIG LESBIAN CRUSH ON YOU! SO SUCK ON THAT!""You can't sit with us!"“It’s like I have ESPN or something." and “I don’t hate you cause you're fat. You’re fat cause I hate you.” I mean, do you really expect more meaningful lyrics? Probably at the end, when Cady does her prom speech, it might have meaningful lyrics but at this point, please bear in mind that teenagers are "saying" this, and we teenagers say pretty ridiculous things sometimes. But that's the beauty of Mean Girls! It's funny! It's petty! And we should appreciate that! It certainly isn't a lyrical masterpiece, but it has its own charm.

No offense, but that's not a good excuse. The dialogue from the film may have been simplistic and slang-based, but it was memorable for a reason. The lyrics in this adaption come off as retreading at best, lazy at worst. Even the aspects that I thought would be phenomenal when adapted to stage (the talent show performances, a "Candy Store"-esque song for the Plastics) were barely touched upon. Don't bother trying to justify it. We all deserved better.

Justin Naniong Dude, as I said, you are comparing Mean Girls to a bunch of musicals who have really deep storylines. Cady is just a teenager who's socially awkward and wants to be in a friend group, and in that process she becomes a horrible person because of the plastics. She doesn't really have any mental issues, she's not anxious, depressed, etc. she's just a teenager who wants to fit in. Also, just to remind you what a score is: "orchestrate or arrange (a piece of music), typically for a specified instrument or instruments." And from what I've heard from the soundtracks, it seems like they deserve it. The arrangement is amazing. So unless they nominated Mean Girls for best lyrics, there isn't really something you should worry about lol

And I'm not saying that the lyrics aren't bad. It's cringeworthy. However, I wanted you guys to take to account that the movie was also simplistic. I did not say that these lyrics were amazing, I just said that compared to the movie it's pretty okay. Would it have been more better if Tina Fey wrote all the lyrics? Probably. But that's not my point. The standpoint of this story is its comedic timing and writing. It definitely wasn't praised for its deep and meaningful storyline, however, it was praised for being funny and quotable, and that's basically it.
