The new lyrics in revenge party is actually the original lyrics when mean girls musical first started in the pre broadway run but change them when they went to broadway and now added them in for movie

"Sexy Joan of Arc" vs "Sexy Rosa Parks" is a change different Karens make in the stage show too - both fit. The extra verse at the beginning of 'Revenge Party' ("I'll bring the Glowsticks, I'll bring Balloons..") is actually originally from the stage show but was cut before it moved to Broadway. "Pyro-Lez" makes complete sense because they change the origin story of the hatred between Regina and Janiss. Now for the most part I prefer the Broadway versions, but I don't think it's a bad thing that these cast recordings are noticeably different. The stage show and the new movie are different works of art. If we wanted to just have a complete 1-for-1 copy of the stage show they should have just released a pro-shot of the Broadway show (like Hamilton). Your discussion of songs advancing the plot describes this perfectly because, for example, 'Someone Gets Hurt' definitely advances the plot - and the acting/cinematography are a massive part of that, because its a film.

Out of all of them, Stupid with Love, Sexy, Someone Gets Hurt, and I See Stars are the songs I hated most They made most of the songs into bland, boring pop songs, but these 4 suffered the most. Reneé Rapp saves someone gets hurt with her amazing voice, but…other than that, none of the other songs I mentioned were…good? The pop music changes were unnecessary, I’m sorry, but the new Cady isn’t that good at singing, I’m not trying to be mean or snobby, because *I* can’t sing, but just listen to I see stars 😭 Honestly, the only thing that saves the soundtrack is Reneé Rapp, Jaquel Spivey, and Auli’i Cravalho
