I’ve been sexually harassed on the job before and I know many, many women who have experienced the same thing. It isn’t hard to believe that this happened to her and I don’t understand women who think she isn’t telling the truth. It always amazes me how, in 2024, women are still treated as if they are dishonest when reporting on sexual harassment and abuse.

It`s simply two different things that have nothing to do with each other. She was married on a plantation and that`s repulsive to me, but not illegal. She was also harrassed at work, which is repulsive and illegal and should come with consequences for the people who harrassed her and others. Two different things that both can happen independently. Her getting married on a plantation doesn`t make it ok for her to be harrassed at work. People want a perfect victim and it`s so damaging.

Is that wedding venue presently a plantation? Are there slaves living there? No. In my hometown, a restaurant/hotel chain runs a lovely restaurant and hotel in a renovated poor farm. Are there prisoners working off their debts living there? No. You presently have to pay a lot of money to stay overnight there.

Ryan Reynolds said something about getting married on a plantation, and he said that at the time they were just looking for a beautiful place to get married and didn't really think about the implications of it being a former slave-owning property. I have heard that far from being a "mean girl," Blake Lively has gotten very good at pushing back on inappropriate interview questions, in an industry that will eat you alive if you let it happen. I mean, I dunno, maybe she is a "mean girl" behind the scenes. Both can be true. Her being harassed by two awful people can also be true, but is an unrelated matter. Just see how easily a PR smear campaign can distract you from the real issues here.
@Calmontheoutside14 сағат бұрын
This “mean girl” shit is like asking what was she wearing. Stop it. Nobody deserves to be sexually harassed.
@MythsScamsLies14 сағат бұрын
Where she got married and her being sexually harassed are NOT CONNECTED IN ANY WAY. Attempting to deflect her sexual harassment claim, to diminish it, is ridiculous, based on where she got married. It's still possible for her to be sexually harassed regardless of where she got married. The level of hate and spite in the country is appalling. It's toxic and has basically destroyed the country's civility.
@sdl1ishappy3 сағат бұрын
Agreed. And the power these social media platforms have to influence people's minds should terrify every civilized person. It has nothing to do with the specifics of any case. It has to do with evil entities and their power to stoke hate and fear in order to control people.

I agree with you on this! Who cares about her personal life prior to the job. Acting is a job! The things listed that were allegedly done to her or about her are not defendable. They are disrespectful…full stop! Again, if you are someone who thinks suggestive phrases, pictures, behavior being done to someone who has said NO, is appropriate behavior in a work environment, I don’t want to work where you are! No amount of fame or fortune a person has deserves this kind of treatment. We have so many people coming out from behind closed doors speaking about their experiences and people think they should just get over it. Well what if that was your child, spouse, mom or even you? If you said stop it and they came at you publicly to smear you in your community? The big picture here is she said NO in WRITING and they allegedly continued to disrespect her personally and publicly. Disrespectful behavior is way too tolerated these days.

I’m so done with anyone from the “She Could Be Lying” brigade every time a woman filed a law suit of that nature. SA is so horribly common. Most of my female friends have been subject to it but never reported it… precisely because they were afraid no one would believe them and they’d be seen as troublemakers.

If you ask a Canadian man, who grew up in Vancouver, BC, "Hey, do you want to get married at Boone Hill Plantation?" his answer would probably be, "Sure, the pictures look nice!" Unless you hook Ryan up to a polygraph machine and ask specifically, "Were you taught about slavery in the deep South of the United States in high school?", I really don't think you can place much blame on the guy. :P

I remember being shocked and disgusted by their choice of venue.I felt is was insensitive to the history of what people suffered there.But that does not make her claims of what happened on set less true.Because you make a crappy decision or even if you are a terrible person., it does not give someone the right to harass you and create false stories about you.The court will decide based on facts.And it sounds as if she has enough proof to bring this to court.

I think "defamation" or something like it will be at play here. Planting stories with 1/2 built truths with the intention of targeting/ruining someone's heretofore stellar reputation has been clearly noted, according to, and documented in, the complaint. Affecting not only one's reputation but most certainly future earnings is where this all gets very dicey. A lot more than "feelings of discomfort" going on here.

I dislike Blake Lively a great deal; however, I would not want anyone to have to endure the types of disgusting behaviors she has listed in her complaint, ever. The thing is, we women can be vicious hypocrites. Like it or not, it is my opinion that this stems from some sort of deep down ugly form of jealousy. Think about it. Most of the mean girl crap is directed toward what many consider younger, pretty women. FYI, that's your own insecurity, making you Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. You can dislike a female and simultaneously not like the way they're being treated because no woman should have to go through that bs.

I think there was a lot of backlash on how she treated women reporters in the past. Plus how she behaved about his role when interviewed, it seemed she was talking about a rom-com.
