Cool video! I tested this with a friends ship recently. I logged in a couple of days later after storing his ship in my hanger and it was still there! I got him to log in and claim his ship while i logged out quickly, but when I logged back in his ship had disappeared out of my hanger ☹That ship you stole is one of the first ships people rent when following a guide on money making for beginners. So maybe rented ships stay in your hanger, the guy just never claimed it back yet or there's some other reason it didn't dissapear I can't think of. Would be interesting to know what the trigger is for it to stay there in a update if you figure it out.

I think it would be a play arc that the insurance highers people to reclaim the assets lost. That would be fun hunting players who stole the ship.

Cant wait for updates to boarding and such, would love to be able dock to another players ship and pirate them

Ok. So, I doubt this stays the norm. It's too easily exploited. A friend of mine has an A2, I "steal" the A2 and put it in my hanger, he claims insurance. Fairly soon everyone has every ship without having to work for anything, or spend anymore real world money. CIG will put some solid restrictions on this.
@Shadowshade-Gaming2 ай бұрын
You're right, I bet this was intended (ships persistence that are stolen), but not to be released now. Not till they get insurance into the game as well as another way to get money (maybe apartments, hangars, etc..).

Yup, citcon had their idea for this, you have to go through hoops and pay to keep it.

Great insights. Im very much a PvE type of guy, but the threat of player piracy is still exciting. So long as prudent players can make the process very difficult for those pirate bas-tards, it will be a fair battle of wits! 😀 Will there be any self destruct timer option for players getting done over?
@Shadowshade-Gaming2 ай бұрын
At the current time, there are self-destruction options on ships, and I have used this by triggering the timer and running whilst they make it to the bridge too late. Just not all ships have this, but with Engineering, you'll be able to probably sabotage your own ship to do this from what CIG has said.
@emotionalsuccess2 ай бұрын
@@Shadowshade-Gaming Should be a good emotional ride having to decide on self destruct vs orher options / fighting back in some way. I wonder what happens to cargo on self destruct? Also destroyed or just ends up in space ready for hovering up by the pirates? Maybe the ship engine core could be destroyed / jettisoned to make your ship immobile? Such great possibilities! Once again, I dont mind being pirated successfully if that takes a lot of skill and involves a lot of risk for the pirates.

I’ve been playing for 18 months or so. However something is odd atm, where there is much more piracy than ever before. The ‘piracy meta’ now seems to be to hang around an important OM point and use a quantum dampener to trap any player that’s just navigating there. Players doing the cargo missions are (too) easily being trapped and either offered to pay a 20K-50K (from what I have witnessed) ‘passing fee’, or be blown out of the sky. This was happening every couple of minutes yesterday. The pirates had set the fee as a function of the claim time and/or cargo value (so they said). At least half, probably more, of the cargo haulers didn’t give in and were disposed off. I personally don’t mind any well behaved, considerate, role playing piracy. It can be hard work and brings color to the verse. But the current scheme is lame as there isn’t that much risk involved for the pirate and there is next to no challenge in killing haulers this way. There is absolutely no way they can escape or challenge the pirates. We can’t really blame that on them, it’s CIG that needs to give the haulers some more options or make this far more risky for pirates (a balanced risk vs reward should be present at that side of the spectrum too). Okay, maybe we can blame these pirates of being a bit lame using this low effort method. Tbh, I would be annoyed a bit about lost game time, but I’m old enough to know nothing of value is really lost in this game. And if ppl take too much risk, well they will learn not to bet the house. A good lesson which might serve them in real life as well. Strangely there didn’t appear to be any players going on the hunt for these pirates. The general picture seems to be pirates and bounty hunters are a smallish fraction of the player base. I’m worried piracy of this kind and scale will frustrate a considerable amount of novice players, which can’t be good for SC. These players often don’t know how you can avoid OM’s for navigation. And some might not even understand the futile situation they are in, or might not even be monitoring global chat. CIG needs to step up regarding this gameplay as well. Which sadly might take them a while, as they have so many other fires to put out. Cheers o7

I would agree. Actually, we wanted to talk about this issue across two other videos. As bounty hunters primarily, we see first hand the imbalance of piracy and the low risk. It's frustrating how easy it is to perform and how little risk is currently involved in piracy. It's frustrating how easy it is to get away with it and how little effective security we have now in Stanton.

Good video. But the first point you made is incorrect. Killing people and blowing up their ships for lolz is griefing, not pirating.
@Shadowshade-Gaming2 ай бұрын
We agree with you about how we feel about murderhobo gameplay. Since the term griefing is loaded, I am curious where CIG will fall when all things are said and implemented. I hope they have ways to stop, prevent, or deal with those who engage in that kind of gameplay and do not consider it legit.

Why would I hire someone to get my ship back if it is insured? In the future, the ships will have a number and you probably get shot if you want to land it on a legal station.
@Shadowshade-Gaming2 ай бұрын
Great questions. I think for most people, you'll just use insurance. It would be if you have something on it, not insured of great value or a ship not insured anymore. For example, Bengal Carriers will have to be found meaning to get one you find and repair or steal from an Org. Right now you don't get shot and I suspect in the future this will continue but in order to do you'll need to strip the ship of identification and/or add a fake entry into a security database. They have made it clear they want to allow such underground activities. Though, I suspect you'll see this more at Pyro like systems vs. more secure systems as security should assist in preventing this.

"Meaningful piracy!" Lame.
@Shadowshade-Gaming2 ай бұрын
It's not that Piracy is moral, or good, but that there's meaning behind it which adds to the story. Good stories sometimes have good villains. Players tend to make better stories for us than NPCs sometimes can. If we are to have villains then in this space game, it's better if they have meaning to them. Though, some great villains wanted nothing more than the world to burn.
