Excellent review, Joe! I heard the album on Spotify last night and was blown away by the rockers. I agree the twee songs aren't my favorites but it's to be expected with Paul for him to do a few. I do like them, but prefer the rockers much more.

Great review,Joe.I'm giving it a one legged standing ovation.🦵😋👍 I think Paul was at his vocal peak during this time period.

You hit the nail on the head Joe. Wings came in to their own in 1974 around the time of this recording and reached their creative peak with the '76 tour and albums released during that period. Wings weren't just Paul's backing band at this time of One Hand Clapping.

This is such a welcome release. Enjoyable listen. Now let’s get the London Town and Back to the Egg box sets! Like many the original cover of OHC is not a favorite Wings album cover to me any many. The little Beatles song versions I find charming.

I thought artwork aside this is a brilliant release. Live rockin' fun and Paul's vocal just never ceases to impress right through the seventies. Just a wonderful collection of songs with such a vibe and intimacy devoid in all of today's modern music. I give this album an 8/10 which is huge by an old fart like me. Why didn't Paul use that picture of him and Linda sitting on a moon. Didn't CDJapan put out a DVD copy? Good review MMM.

Tend to agree with what you say and I get what you mean with c moon. The rockers are really good and yes I really know give you a ring from the eighties but this is good. Glad you love the wild life album, it’s actually in my top five of Paul’s. I agree with the placing of Baby face but I love it! Great review, thanks

I watched my 2010 archive collection of one hand clapping last night and it was brilliant. I haven't bought this latest one hand clapping release. Can't afford it right now but I'll get it eventually, it's one of those I don't see as essential.

Great review. A nice LP with some ups & downs but mostly ups. I got the exclusive edition with the extra 7" EP. The 4 songs on the EP puts this set into the "required listening" category.

Completely agreed on all the rockers being great. However, Let’s Love and All of You are also definite highlights for me. His melodies on both of those are great and somehow he just has this endless supply of amazing ballads he can write. Don’t know how he does it!

Hey Joe, Fantastic review!! Fair and Honest!!!! I’m slowly listening to the album I am streaming it. I’ll buy it next week. I am waiting for a “NEW” release from Paul. I am enjoying this so far. I do wish the backyard songs were part of the cd set and I know the one hand clapping is on KZbin but I wish Paul released it all as a mini archive collection item . Thanks again Joe take care!!!!

I agree with your last statement. This release is more for the die hard fans. Personally I liked the album a lot. The band sounds energetic in the rockers, the different versions of Tomorrow, Powercut ecc... are interesting since they are played by Paul only on piano or organ. The reggae version of Little Woman Love is great. The new songs All Of Me and One Hand Clapping are very nice. I wonder why they used a different take of Jet, the one released in 2010 on the Archive Edition was different. I like the fact that they kept studio chatting in the mixes, giving a more live-in-studio feel, that was lacking on the Russian Album, the other live-in-studio album by Paul.

I really like this album. I agree that some of the softer songs aren't as great. But, it's still a very good listen. The video footage for "Soily" is up on Paul's KZbin channel. And it's the best quality I've ever seen it, but still not perfect, due to the limitations of the source material. Hopefully they post more.

Joe after listening to my vinyl copy, it's ok not brilliant a little over rated for me, i wished i had got the cd copy instead, half the price. For instance no gate fold. It would have been nice with gate fold with photos inside, and maybe a large studio poster inside too. It looks as they have done the cheapest things possible as packaging and charged the highest price. Wished i bought the cd.

I once saw a film about Ted Bundy. There was a scene, where he drove in a car to a lake where he found his next victim. While driving in the car, the radiostation anounced the new song by Wings- Junior‘s Farm. Since then this song gives me some negative vibes.🙈 I‘m still wondering if McCartney is aware that his song is used in a film about a serial killer…

Yeah Joe I also First saw this on Bootleg VHS-I always enjoyed this era of PM tracks. I hope MPL will release an upscaled Remaster of the Complete but perhaps in the future. I always enjoyed Linda vocals Though not perfect the harmony with Pauls vocals were suited well for Rock N Roll. I will Only buy this on the used market just bit the bullet and went LP Box set crazy recently! From Liverpool-BC-13 EAS Japan 1982. For now my Vinyl addiction will keep me well fed. Great that Paul has released classic Wings era recordings Still Hoping for a Apple Collection version of Ultra-Rare-Unsurpassed Masters!

I'm really not trying to start any arguments with you, but you always inaccurately say that Paul was the one who wrote the romantic ballads. As I have posted about before, Richie Untenberger who wrote the great detailed long Beatles biography for The All Music Guide, so rightly says, the critical party line often champions Lennon as the angry realist rocker, and McCartney as the romantic balladeer, but this is a fallacy: each of them was capable in roughly equal measures, of ballsy all-out-rock and sweet romanticism. John also wrote plenty of sentimental ballads, including Ask Me Why which I always liked a lot, and University Of Pennsylvania ( 1 of the top ivy league universities in the US) in his 11 year extensive Beatles analysis of all 200 Beatles songs, is structurally complex, and John wrote Do You Want To Know A Secret and Happy Just To Dance With You for George to sing, and his song for Yoko during their separation One Day At A Time is a very mushy sentimental song on his 1973 Mind Games album etc. There are many Beatles song examples of this too,Paul even wrote some of their earliest very good rockers, I Saw Her Standing There in 1963 which many people have said is a very good rocker, I'm Down which the all music guide calls a peerless and one of the most frantic rockers in their entire catalog, and they said The Beatles proved that they could rock really really hard with this song, John's I Feel Fine and Paul's late 1964 blues rocker, She's A Woman which they said was one of the hardest rocking early Beatles originals and they said McCartney to often unfairly pegged as a sweet balladeer demonstrates that he was also one of the best white rock hard singers of all time with his shrill yet rich even ballsy vocal. And Paul liked 1920's jazz style music because of his father Jim McCartney's music who was the a jazz pianist and the leader of his own band Jim Mac's Band who were successful in Liverpool clubs in the 1920's and early 1930's. And Jim even wrote a very good 1920's jazz instrumental called Walking In The Park With Eloise and Paul played bass with other musicians and recorded this song in 1974 and you can hear it on KZbin too.

I thought long and hard before typing this with every intention of be diplomatic. My music history and listening to music goes back to the 70's and it stems out to working in a recording studio in the early 80's when the big wave of technology came through with the transition from analog to digital. Back in the day as we all know there was only a couple of ways to get music and hear music. McCartney of all people and his material was pretty sought after. Especially his bootleg stuff. When his stuff got out to the public that wasn't to his standard he would get angry. Either him or his organization (MPL) has lowered their standards to bring money in. These recordings of One Hand Clapping are not that good. It seems to me either the recording equipment?studio or the transfer from film audio to tape or digital it just wasn't good to begin with. I get it revenue is important but they shoulda left this one alone. Now that being said the little bonus that you get of the backyard sessions. McCartney mic-ed up in the garden or backyard running through his songs and old songs is absolutely STELLER....!! Just him and his guitar and how he is mic-ed shows you his versatility with the acoustic guitar. The studio stuff though is not up to McCartney standards .....................Sorry.
