Cheddar Gorge. I remember chatting about that area. We noted the elderly people sign when we were in Wales in 2011. We reenacted it as well.

Somerset and Bristol are great UK destinations that we've been. Highly recommended. When you get to Bristol , check out Bristol Cathedral, King Street , St Nicholas Market and not to mention Clifton Suspension Bridge with great views. It has a history. You guys have done a nice vlog here and its's only getting better. Wish you lots of success on your channel 😍😍 from Harriet and Jim Richmond, Va.
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
Can you believe we didn't get to the Clifton Suspension Bridge during our time in Bristol!?! That was one of our top sites we wanted to see! Such a bummer, but we promised ourselves we'd go back. But we DID make it to some of the other big attractions and have a vlog coming out soon from that! Thanks H&J as always for watching! 😀

Was the Barber Shop sign at 8:26 upside down?! Wells is so 'cute' and 'quaint'. ;) But really, it's just what you see in your head when someone mentions an English village. I loved the moat, and everything else! But that Wells Cathedral... just wow... No matter how many times I watch your UK videos, I always have a half-second of panic when you go to take a left at a roundabout. LOL
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
Haha, after I've been editing a UK vlog for a while, I have to be very conscious about which side of the road I drive on when I go on errands here in the US! LOL! And yes it was upside down, so random!

Speaking of getting outfitted, we were in the lake district and I went to a Mountain Warehouse and got so many things! I literally was wearing that brand from head to toe! Hiking boots, hiking socks, waterproof trousers, waterproof jacket, etc.😂

I think I've seen you chat about that on your channel, and that your magenta coat is from Mountain Warehouse! I'd never heard of Cheddar Gorge until a British friend suggested it as a place to visit, I associate the word 'cheddar' with cheese! I did visit and I'm pretty sure we parked in the same spot you did and then walked into the gorge late in the afternoon when most people had left so it wasn't very crowded.

So, since you said it twice, I have to ask… Don’t British people yell at you for using the word cute when describing English towns? I have gotten severely scolded on several occasions and have totally stopped saying it 😬
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
Haha no I don’t know about this! What is their rationale? 🤣🤣😑 I literally can’t imagine having the wherewithal to tell someone that their adjectives aren’t correct, when adjectives are the only optional and subjective words that one can use in a sentence. Ohhhh, Brits!!!
@MagentaOtterTravels3 жыл бұрын
@@MeansToTravel I have been told I’m not allowed to say cute or quaint. I have attempted to convince people that they are being way too uptight, and they need to understand the intent behind why is someone is saying something. For some reason English people consider it condescending, when actually the Americans using these adjectives are completely enamoured. It really is rather ridiculous! But I just got sick of being scolded!!
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
@@MagentaOtterTravels LOL if they're telling you that your word choice (which was used in a kind and appreciating way and is extremely common in our culture) was incorrect based on their sensibilities, then the funny thing is that they're the ones being condescending by definition, as they are assuming that their word preferences are the most superior and we should change our American vernacular to accommodate them. I adore British people and Great Britain, but I'll admit that a handful of the ones I've encountered on the internet have a tendency to not notice their own biases.
@MagentaOtterTravels3 жыл бұрын
@@MeansToTravel EXCELLENT POINT! I didn’t even tell you about the woman who told me in all capital letters with !!!!‘s that I shouldn’t use the term “Brit” 🙄🙄🙄
@MeansToTravel3 жыл бұрын
@@MagentaOtterTravels LOL I'd love to hear the rationale behind that, assuming you were speaking about someone indeed from Great Britain. That's what my British friend calls himself? Maybe that commenter was secretly hopeful that the term "Brit" will slowly go away like the term "Yank" did, which unfortunately some British people didn't get the memo about despite Americans not using the word these days.
