Measuring Deck Clearance on the B18C

Checking the deck clearance on the engine for Phoenix so I don't send the piston into the cylinder head.

I have a friend the assembly a engine for me and the quench look so low the i dont want to try that engine 😂 still trying t figure out whats wrong there its a b18b with nippon set up 81 mm scotts rods with this inf im gonna do it myself ❤

My buddy J.... my buddy did everything! 😆 I’ve never had to use a deck gauge clearance but, I was always told that if you didn’t shave your block where the head goes, you can use the factory specs to gauge your head gasket thickness! On a side note, while you were using the deck clearance tool, can you rock the piston so that both gauges are precisely the same number? I would think that’s what you would look for, correct?

Yes you rock the piston. However, it’s my understanding that you take the high reading and the low reading, then find the average of those two readings and that would be your deck clearance.
