Yeah, I checked my collection of protractors and sure enough one has the 1:10k and another does Lat/Long. Damn good thing, I'm too old for this! 🤣🤣🤣. And you can see why they invented the Military Grid System! 😂

I just rewatched the first lat long video and watched this video after learning this concept at the intermediate class last weekend and with the real world experience and the detailed explanation you provided in this video I feel like I understand this. Need to get that little ruler for sure! Thanks brother!

Not sure if I understood correctly at 3:50 to 4:20 or thereabouts at which measure varies. My understanding is that there are parallels of latitude which are a constant distance of 111km (69 miles/60 nautical miles) per degree, 1850m (1.2miles) per minute, 31 m (34 yds) per second of latitude. Lines of longitude converge towards the poles so that 1 deg of long at the equator is same as latitude, but at 35 deg N or S it is about 91 km, and at 45 deg N or S it is 79km.

Great video Dave! Do you know how to go the other way? For instance how to convert to UTM like on my older gazeteer?

Get your map and your ruler, same as Dave has here... Go through the video step by step and you will see it's easy. The hardest part is the essential 'practicing' it till it becomes muscle memory. You did it when you first started getting home from school 'all by yourself'. That school kid enthusiasm is still in you if you want it... But this time Mommy's not here to hold your hand. C'mon, keep your mind healthy. Learning something new doe's that. Like learning a language, life is going to be a whole lot easier if you learn it b4 you need it... Better that than being lost in Spain. Comprende'? Universal Sovereign Citizen

The nm scale would also be useful if you put down off-field and only had aviation charts.

Hey Dave, Can you show your audience how to use the ruler when the target is high and to the east. The ruler must sometimes be used on the other diagonal and also extended outside the square. Thanks.

Best Navigation information going hands down the best. A question how about making available the Pathfinder All-Weather notebook again to go along with the Land and Nav and information we gather. Don't ya think or don't ya ? Stay Safe out there. (Mine is Full of notes).

I don't see a practical use for this. While I understand where you MIGHT need it I don't see of use for the average back country person
