Can’t wait to see the upgrade. It would be fantastic to have the outworld have multiple entrances coming up in the Center like a real nest. Would work well with the modular nests

You may have hit the nail on the head. I just finished the mound and entrance and there are 2 entrances like a real nest, many more would be to much but it looks good

I actually know a place where there is a colony of wild meat ants. Its in a park near a scouts hall in Keilor Village, it was really fascinating to watch them

It's stinkbug season and I found one under a log today. I went to touch it, it was an oopsy. It sprayed my right pointer and now my fingertip is dark.

hello, i would like to keep a myrmecia nigrisceps colony, when im googling nests for them, i come across various nest sizes with all the same tube entrance size, which is 13 mm, and im wondering, is 13 mm too narrow for them to pass through or is this wide enough?

Yeah 13mm should be ok. My brevinoda only have 10mm in their current setup and they squeeze through, when I upgrade them I’ll give them 16mm. But they are one of the largest species of ant. 13mm should be fine. Let me know how you go and what nest you are thinking of getting?

I think im going to get the Large Ytong type B Tower nest from Esthetic Ants, the only available species of myrmecia in Western Europe that i know of are myrmecia nigrisceps and pyriformis, i think i will choose nigrisceps because i heard that pyriformis is only active at night and is very timid. But the biggest problem is that the average temperature in Australia all year round is something like 22 degrees celsius, but where i live (The Netherlands) the average temperature is 11 degrees celsius, so i need to find a way to keep them warm all year round, i was thinking of buying a large heating mat so that the whole setup (nest, tubes, outworld) has the correct temperature. Do you think this is a good idea? What are your other thoughts?

I wish i knew that earlier, it was a giant mistake buying from EA, i ordered the nest a month ago, it came in broken with a giant crack through the ytong, and when i called and emailed them for a refund they did not want to pay the 40 euros i spend on this garbage. After a week i decided to connect the nest to my messor barbarus colony because i would not trust the nest with a aggresive and expensive queen ant like myrmecia nigriceps, after that i ordered the medium v2 nest from Ant Farm Supplies and it works excellent, i have my M. Nigriceps queen in it for a week now, she has 4 large larvea now and she is very active, but i noticed that the queen keeps twitching her back left leg up and down while she is standing still, its really weird, even if i leave the queen alone for a few days i can see the queen twitching on my live camera that i placed towards the outworld, i will upload a video of it soon, i think i will sell the queen when the 4 larvea turn into workers. After i sold the queen i will get a M. Brevinoda queen.
