I think the majority of people in Russia still support Putin. Most of the people are apolitical - the government will take care of us. Many of the people who might have taken a stand have now left the country. That leaves the minorities outside of Russia proper who are financially repressed and without hope and jobs. All subjected to an onslaught of controlled information and military repression. I think you have to take away the pensions and hit at the heart of Russia. Once the pensioners don't get their money things will change quickly.

Amen. Did you know that the Patriarch Kirill's job was KGB before 😳? I'm a cradle Catholic who went through 12 years of Catholic school. My father passed away at home from a heart attack when I was 6 and my brother was 4. Mom was very involved in our church back home. She started cooking for the Priests for our school tuition in grade/middle school. We'd walk across parking lot to the Rectory and stay till Mom finished cooking and cleaning. All of the Priests were awesome but one, Father Chandeneaux was simply a Saint. He was around Mom's age and he sit in kitchen and while she did dishes and they'd chat, talk politics, etc. He was so kind and nurturing to us kids. When Mom passed away years later, he came out of retirement officiated her funeral with tears in his eyes. Father Chandeneaux was a very holy man and it makes me sick and furious that someone like Kirill is referred to as "holy". What a rotten effed up society.
