Jim Steinman is the composer and the guy playing the piano. He said that he wanted to create the ultimate motorcycle crash song. I think he made it.😄 Meat Loaf literally put all his energy in his performances/concerts. He used to say: "The people come to my concerts just to see me sing. They give me their hard earned money. So they'll get everything from me." He truly gave 150 %. He had Asthma. After his shows he often collapsed. So they had to provide him with oxygen tanks backstage. In 2016 he collapsed on stage due to dehydration. After a few seconds lying on the floor he got up and finished the song. 😮

Jim Steinman, who is the amazing composer and piano player in all of Meat's music, wanted to write the perfect motorcycle crash song. Todd Rundgren produced the whole album and later being nagged by Jim came up wth that motorcycle guitar riff that blended seamlessly into in amazing solo. For someone like me who grew up in the 70s Meat Loaf was just part of our coming of age. Like so much more music that I cherish more and more each passing day. Check out "Heaven can wait" and "For crying out loud" from Bat out of Hell. And thanks for all the Jacques Brel music which you so gracefully cover on your channel. To that end I would like to recommend Jef, Le Chanson de Jacky, Les bonbons, Mon enfance, Mon dernier repas. As you already know he was brilliant.

The whole Bat Out of Hell album tells a story. I don't really understand how it all fits together, but I do know that it starts with this guy crashing his bike and the rest of the album is him looking back over his life. Meat Loaf + Steinman are legen - wait for it - dary.

There is a girl she's a one night stand, the bike represents his freedom from the responsibilities of a relationship, but he keeps thinking about her after he bails and missed the curve and crashes and dies and the last thing he sees is his heart or soul so to say flying away to wherever souls go.
