The team wraps up a successful trip in Central Alaska. Good fortune on a fishing trip means the steel honed blade will be utilized. Steve shows the proper breakdown of a Burbot in the field with two simple tools, a pair of pliers and a filet knife.
Have a look at the techniques used to clean this fish on the Alaskan ice. Filets, belly meat, liver, and roe are all taken for consumption or further fishing use.

Look around the fish cleaning station at a campground and you'll often find a slimy tree with a big nail in it ready for your burbots head, makes peeling easy 😉

Can't say for certain about north american burbot, but in north europe we eat the roe (or the caviar as he called it) ourselves. It's a goddamn delicacy and is probably worth more than the fish itself. If you buy it, it's usually more than 100 euros per kilo.

I know you don't a fillet table, but a good shard knife would have eliminated the skinning process. Like a 000 catfish I've done. Love your show brother.
