I moved from Colorado to the east coast ( NC) if you will eat bear, you can do a non resident bear tag for $100. I still go back and do it every year for the most part. Can’t afford a non resident elk tag that’s for sure lol.

Finally drew a resident buck tag for my 'home' units this year after several years of denials mixed in with a 4th choice in the secondary draw for a tag out in the southeastern Colorado plains (much further from home) . And, like @kanaga said (below) I routinely have mule deer strolling through my yard here in the Heart Of The Rockies too.

They did the exact thing in the Black Hills. Introduced rainbow trout to streams they were not native to. You catch far less brookies and browns now and to be honest I would take a nice colorful brookie or golden colored brown for a photo long before a rainbow. With that in mind, I would also take a nice pink meat brookie over a rainbow any day of the week to cook over the campfire.

So many guys and gals are unable to draw tags that have always been first year draws, even archery (myself included this year). The good news is the wolves are here and now breeding so that will help out with the tag reductions (severe sarcasm).
