Not true, and “heart beat” is very specific. There are quite a few sea animals who don’t have hearts or cardiovascular systems that are still very much alive and very much considered animals (take sea urchins for example). Guys, it's a religious (Catholic) thing. In catholic beliefs, you don't eat meat (meaning pork, chicken, beef -> land animals) on Fridays, but you're allowed to eat fish and seafood, because they are not considered meat according to this rule. I grew up catholic, but I'm not religious, however people always cry for respect when it comes to other religions (like Hinduism, Islam, etc) and their (food) rules, but once catholic Christians have rules, people are losing their minds.

for everyone saying “but fish is meat!”, here’s your explanation-the bible was originally written in latin, and specifically said to abstain from eating “carne” on fridays during lent. “carne” in latin refers to the flesh of animals that walk on land and fly in the sky, but does NOT include water animals. english doesn’t really have a word that’s a 1:1 translation of carne, so we say “meat”, even though in english that DOES include fish. yes, it’s a slight mistranslation. no, it’s really not that serious.
