The Meccano here is simply a handy medium to build with. You can get the same result with cardboard see my other video (Make your own poetry machine) Poetry might well be meaningless if we picked random words from a dictionary with a pin. My machines rearrange about 400 (Carefully?) CHOSEN words. The machine forces specific combinations. Because the words scan, rhyme etc, they give the ILLUSION of genuinely crafted poetry. Art, but not as we know it, Jim. But thanks for the compliments anyway!

Thanks Paul, it was really an accidental sort of model. I'm working on something else, and got distracted. If the poetry was any good, I suppose I could go on tour, giving 'brand new' performances for the rest of my life, then bequeath the machine to my descendents. How's that for a business plan?

Unbelievable! You've cracked the secret to Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde! This is really amazing though. What a great idea. Do you have any plans for what you might do with this machine?

I could link it to my automatic calendar to produce a thought for the day, for the next 802,241,960,520/365.25 = 2.1 Trillion years. Or I could dedicate 100 verses to every man, woman and child alive today, and then still have one left over for their firstborn child. I remain staggered.

Or you could compare it to the internet. A chance to read any old rubbish, whenever you want, for all eternity! But thanks for the compliment ;-)
