The Everlasting Secret Stuff! A liquid which would grant unending talent and slams to any who drank even one drop! She searched, and searched...and searched... Alas, she never found it. She entrusted her dream to the successor, her daughter, before falling into a hard-earned sleep.
Determined to succeed where her mother did not, the new Commissioner rallied the players together under her cause. Opening the doors of the stadium to ballers of all shapes and kinds, she attracted ambitious and skilled jammers!

I love the game, but it's not a masterpiece IMO. Its main flaw is that it looks bad, that's not a big deal because it's a game and not a cartoon but it's still a flaw. Easy 8 or 9 out of 10 though.

The way the characters are posed/animated can look awkward sometimes, the environments can be a bit lacking in terms of detail, it doesn't really do anything interesting with the paper aesthetic (i.e. Hooktail), it's a bit hard to list everything. Comparing its visuals to Paper Mario TTYD, Super Paper Mario, or another upcoming Paper Mario inspired game called "Born of Bread" is easier than trying to list everything.

Insects don't really have much to be drawn or animated, along with it's cartoon-ish style it may feel a bit too little, and the environment is from a literal backyard so there isn't much to be seen anyway. And even if it's Paper Mario like and had the og name "paper bugs", the story doesn't have anything to do with paper, because it's just an art style and animation for example: characters turning to the other side makes them flip their sprite if I worded it comprehensibly. But yeah, there's not much to look at in simple art but I get what you're saying

I could make a funny joke based on the material, but god damn I am just really happy that Bug Fables is getting the attention it rightfully deserved. This is a masterpiece of a game which had me smiling and excited the whole way through, and in my opinion surpassed its influences in a magnificent way. The gameplay is tight, with each member feeling useful and vital to the party, and with medals you can come up with tons of fun and interesting team ideas and flexible roles for each of the bug bois. The story was fun and light hearted, but knew when to take itself seriously at points, with the world of Bugaria being tons of fun to explore and a really interesting concept as a fan of micro-scale stories. The difficulty was fantastic, as it was always challenging but never insurmountable, I always felt a little underpowered when going into fights, but always able to come out on top. This alongside the optional cheat codes to modify subsequent playthroughs made it new challenge in new ways. And the soundtrack. THE SOUNDTRACK! Tristan Alric didn't have to go as hard as he did in making both high energy bops, and scene setting yet cool tunes for this funny little bug game, but thank god he did. This stuff is volcanic in it's heat and consistency, and so jam packed I could mistake it for a strawberry farm. Enough of me gushing over this gem, I can't wait for further potential slams and jams, and even more for what the fine folks over at moon sprout games are cooking up next. To whomever hasn't played it yet, it is one of the few games I would avidly recommend with all my heart, and to everyone else keep up the good work, and have a nice day.

Bug Fables is the evolution to the Paper Mario formula we were waiting for all these years. And surpasses it in a LOT of ways, because it isn't held in the same shackles that a Mario RPG will inevitably have.
