I was here for Heat Transfer but I'm back for Thermo! 😂 You are such a good lecturer!

No - it should be multiplied by 3. 0% excess air is the correct amount of air based on the stoichiometric balance, and thus it is 1*a_th. For 100% excess air it is 100% more air than you need, and thus it is 2*a_th. For 200% excess air it would be 3*a_th.

I have 400% so 5*a_th?

Thanks a lot. Why didn't you put the stoichiometric equation from the beginning if you knew that you have excess air? I mean you multiply the air by 3 and add the Oxygen to the right.

why 200 % excess air deals with 3*theo air?
@ronhugo62255 жыл бұрын
It is just how excess air is defined - it is the amount of air in excess of the stoichiometric amount. Thus 200% excess air is 300% theoretical air.

100% theoretical air = 0% excess air = a_th 200% theoretical air = 100% excess air = 2 a_th 300% theoretical air = 200% excess air = 3 a_th Am I right?

Propane gas is allowed to react with 80% theoretical air. Determine the theoretical equation for the reaction. what to do in this case?
@bhakthimd66922 жыл бұрын
that will be fuel rich condition, and unburnt hydrocarbons will be present in the products
for 200% excess air should a-theoretical be multiplied by 2?
@muhammaddafi87072 жыл бұрын
Sir how if the problem said "the amount of O2 provided in the form of air (21% O2 and 79% N2) should be twice of the amount needed from the reaction" does it mean we have to multiply the a_th by 2 or the excess air is 200% ?
