The period of these oscillations is determined only by sliding friction coefficient between the rod and the wheel and the distance between the wheels. Such a movement might be forward and backward and forward again or from one side to another and back to the first side

It's a delicate balance between weight, and friction. If the rod were too heavy, or too light, it would do just that. But once the right balance has been achieved, it works like this. When the wheel on the right has pushed the rod to the left, the friction on the left increases, while decreasing on the right, because a higher percentage, i.e. more weight, of the rod is on the left. Therefore, the left wheel will now "grab" the rod more effectively, sending the bar to the right. Once the greater percentage of the rod is on the right, the friction increases on the right, and decreases on the left, which sends it back to the left, and so on, and so on...

@@Quickened1 Oh I understood.You meant that when it goes to one side, the weight of the rod will be on the tyre were the rod is.So the tyre have more control on the rod.Then it will moves the rod to centre... And the same on other tyre☺️
