I poked around in a couple of places, but I fear that they are long gone. They were in pretty heavy use, though, and would develop cracks in the body, where the tip attaches. I found the plastic pouch with the rest of my drafting tools from my "graphical communications" class, though. Hmm, video idea? ;-)

Thank you for the kind words, but, the experts live and breath fountain pens, many times it's their livelihoods. Pens for me are just one of my many casual interests. I enjoy the few I have but seldom get wrapped up in all the little details surrounding pens. Spend some time on the fountain pen network and you'll quickly see expert level. Some very bright people there.

RelaxingASMR You and Goulet are the ones who actually inspired me to get a fountain pen. It was right after your first Pilot Metropolitan video. It was not only relaxing, but really instilled a deep fascination with fountain pens for me. So I went over to Goulet, and found his thoughts on the Metropolitan and a couple different pads of paper. Long story short; I now have a Pilot Metropolitan, a Lami Safari, 5 different pads of paper including a calligraphy practice pad, 3 bottles of ink, some admirers of my writing, and an insatiable appetite for fountain pens and calligraphy. They're all I use anymore, from casual writing to college math exams. Thank you, for doing what you do, and for opening my mind up to a new world of possibilities on something as "simple" as pens. (Ironically, this is being said on a video about pencils)

I agree about Pentel. I have a black and silver Classic Deluxe Pentel that I bought on ebay to replace another classic deluxe that I had for YEARS. That was the model that won me over to mechanical pencils and fueled my love of planners. Nothing like quality tools to make life more enjoyable.

The Classic Deluxe is a beauty for sure and is also rare these days since Pentel no longer makes it. Even finding one on Amazon or Ebay will take perfect timing. Don't let anything happen to your's.

RelaxingASMR sorry for the late reply. usually old pentel and pilot mechanical pencils, from the 80s and 90s go for quite a bit on ebay, mainly because they’re discontinued. There’s a “golden age” for mechanical pencils and it’s around that time.

Yes, we call them propelling pencils. Definitely not automatic pencils. Sometimes we say mechanical or clutch pencil too. Incidentally, the broken brown Parker is a Vector, and you are right, the Vector is Parker's budget range. They do a ballpen and fountain pen in the same range.

I watched until the end! Who would miss out on erasers and lead? Two very important components of our fave mechanical pencils. I like to use the Pentel clic erasers. It slows me down to have to uncap my pencil and use the tiny little eraser, which wears down so quickly.

Ok, how's this? Mechanical pencils run out of lead, but with regular pencils you'll have lead as long as you have wood.
