This video includes 22 types of mechanism and that not all yet...
You can see here:
cam mechanisms
maltese cross mechanisms
ratchet mechanisms
Reuleaux triangle based mechanisms
simple and gerotor gears
and the walking mechanism by Teo Yansens
to be continued....
The idea of this video was taken from the larger work by Ralph Steiner.

In case anyone wants to know what each one is called: 00:15 modified geneva mechanism 00:20 geneva mechanism 00:29 universal joint (often replaced by constant velocity joint these days) 00:42 to 01:36 various ratcheting systems. Seiko mechanical watch uses similar mechanism to 1:10 to allow for bi-directional winding. 01:41 to 02:49 various cam mechanisms. 01:41 modified scotch yoke 01:58 is likely to wear out really fast due to impact load and use of sliding surface instead of rolling surface. 02:00 simple scotch yoke. 02:09 to 2:37 reuleaux triangle mechanisms 02:52 spur gear with parts cutoff to look cool. looks pretty cool 03:00 gerotor. specialized form of helical internal gear. 03:19 helical gear with non-standard gear profile and a lot of twist-per-inch. There might be a specialized name for it. 03:27 four Jansen's linkage driven by an eccentric shaft. A specialized form of six-bar-linkages

ehhhh, I would not really equate these to math. I am horrible at math, like absolutely horrendous. But most of these mechanical principles are very common sense to me and easy to evaluate and understand. But I do not look at them in a mathematical way at all. I am not sure how on earth you see math when you look at these, but I see fundamental forces, not math. just like with a falling apple. I do not see math when I see a falling apple, I see the application of gravity. To me they are drastically different things.

@@audre6354 It depends where you live. I live in an areal where theres a lot of companies within 50km that focus on machinig etc. so its a great choice for me. I would still go for it even if no companies were nerby but thats a big plus. Its not easy but I still love designing and testing stuff. Im planning on buying a 3D printer because we do a lot of 3D modeling and you can print everything and test it. I love technology and if you do too, go for it. And also you dont need to just desing, you can be a technologist or a metrologist. And its pretty cool job, imagine designing guns or cars or even planes. Its a lot of work but engineers get payed very well also.

@@martindonoval2162 is it a lot of hard work?
@martindonoval2162
@martindonoval2162 4 жыл бұрын
@@rd6579 Yes, you have to learn how metals are made (even plastic and other materials but mainly meatal), in which direction are they the strongest, their structure, how they behave under pressure, heat, cold, temperature deferences in short time. Which are better for welding, for painting, which are food grade. And there are tons of norms which you need to follow when designing and drawing. You need to know how to measure, which measuring devices we have. Tolerances, surface finishes and how to manufacture to specific tolerances and surface finishes. How gears work, how thread works and on on on. Yes, it's a lot of stuff but it's getting easier because we're starting to use computers more.

After they burned you for being a witch and destroyed your device, things would go back to medieval normal, better try the start of the industrial revolution, find the greediest most unscrupulous SOB Industrialists and let him know and that only he knows, let him disseminate the idea's into the public in a way they will believe and be able to cope with. You have to plan your time traveling and time line changing. Time travel with Tesla, we have a pretty good idea of when it's kind of safe to sit on a beach and enjoy the Sunset in the Mesozoic Era.
